Abstract
A novel type of electro‐optic (EO) modulator using guided wave resonance in a planar zinc‐oxide waveguide is presented. The device is studied as a bulk EO modulator. We report experimental results concerning the determination of the coefficients of the EO tensor of the ZnO layer.

TL;DR: In this article, thin films of zinc oxide (ZnO) were prepared by dc reactive magnetron sputtering on glass substrates at various oxygen partial pressures in the range 1 x 10(-4)-6 x 10 (-3) mbar and substrate temperatures in range 548-723 K. The films were polycrystalline with wurtzite structure.
