Mixed empirical-numerical method for investigating tunnelling effects on structures

TL;DR: In this article, a two-stage mixed empirical-numerical technique is used to estimate the effect of building stiffness on ground displacements due to tunnelling. But the results demonstrate the importance of imposing realistic inputs of greenfield soil displacements when evaluating structural response to building construction.

Numerical evaluation of the bearing capacity factor N’c of circular and ring footings

TL;DR: The results indicate that for rough footings there is an optimal ring which is also dependent of the friction φ, and the optimal value of ri/r0 is found to be almost equal to 0.26, 0.33 and 0.46 corresponding respectively to a low, medium and high friction soil.

A BIM-based monitoring system for urban deep excavation projects

TL;DR: In this article, a building information model (BIM)-based monitoring system is developed to integrate and visualize monitoring data for risk assessments during urban deep excavation projects. But, the system is not suitable for large-scale projects, and it is difficult to manage large volumes of monitoring data and project information as the construction project progresses.
