Field Testing and Analyses of a Batter Pile Group Foundation Under Lateral Loading

TL;DR: In this paper, a full-scale lateral load test was conducted on an M19 eastbound pier of the new I-10 twin span bridge, built over Lake Pontchartrain between New Orleans and Slidell, Louisiana, to assess the methodology used to design and analyze batter pile foundations and to evaluate their performance under lateral loading.
Journal ArticleDOI

Nonlinear analysis of a geocell mattress on an elastic–plastic foundation

TL;DR: In this article, a decoupled iterative method is presented to assess the behavior of a geocell mattress subjected to symmetric loads by modeling the mattress as a geometrically nonlinear beam resting on a nonlinear foundation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Dynamic stiffness matrix of non-symmetric thin-walled curved beam on Winkler and Pasternak type foundations

TL;DR: Using the technical computing program Mathematica, the dynamic stiffness matrix for the spatially coupled free vibration analysis of thin-walled curved beam with non-symmetric cross-section on two-types of elastic foundation is newly presented based on the power series method.
Journal ArticleDOI

Expansion reduction of clayey soils through Surcharge application and Lime Treatment

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors measured the surcharge required to counteract soil expansion in natural expansive soils (untreated soils) and lime treated soils starting at 19.61 kPa and continuing with increments of 19.22 kPa.
Journal ArticleDOI

Mechanical properties of jet grouted soilcrete

TL;DR: In this paper, the mechanical properties of jet grouted soilcrete, uniaxial compression tests, Brazilian tests and ultrasonic tests were conducted on a number of samples, and it was found that the uniaaxial compressive strength, modulus of elasticity, failure strain, tensile strength and P-wave velocity of soilcrete increase with increasing dry density.
