Improvements to a MODIS global terrestrial evapotranspiration algorithm
TLDR
In this article, an improved version of the global evapotranspiration (ET) algorithm based on MODIS and global meteorology data has been proposed, which simplifies the calculation of vegetation cover fraction, calculating ET as the sum of daytime and nighttime components, adding soil heat flux calculation, improving estimates of stomatal conductance, aerodynamic resistance and boundary layer resistance, separating dry canopy surface from the wet and dividing soil surface into saturated wet surface and moist surface.About:

Multiscale Validation of the 8-day MOD16 Evapotranspiration Product Using Flux Data Collected in China
TL;DR: The 8-day MOD16 ET reproduces the temporal patterns of both the LAS and EC measurements but tends to underestimate and overestimate these measurements at high and low ET levels, respectively.

On the potentials of multiple climate variables in assessing the spatio-temporal characteristics of hydrological droughts over the Volta Basin.
TL;DR: The ICA-derived spatio-temporal hydrological drought patterns show Burkina Faso and the Lake Volta areas as predominantly drought zones and the statistically significant negative correlations of pacific decadal oscillations suggest the possible influence of low frequency large scale oscillations in the observed wet and dry regimes over the basin.

Satellite-based hydrological dynamics of the world's largest continuous wetland
Natasha Costa Penatti,Teodoro Isnard Ribeiro de Almeida,Laerte Guimarães Ferreira,Arielle Elias Arantes,Michael T. Coe +4 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the potential for closing the water balance purely from remote sensing (RS) sources and quantify the hydrological dynamic of the Pantanal (Brazil), the world's largest continuous wetland.

A review of 40 years of hydrological science and practice in southern Africa using the Pitman rainfall-runoff model
TL;DR: The 40th anniversary of the initial development of the Pitman rainfall runoff (developed in South Africa and widely applied throughout southern Africa) approximately coincides with the end of the IAHS PUB programme and the start of a new decade focussing on hydrological change (Panta Rhei) and society as mentioned in this paper.

Spatiotemporal Evaluation of Simulated Evapotranspiration and Streamflow over Texas Using the WRF-Hydro-RAPID Modeling Framework
Peirong Lin,Mohammad Adnan Rajib,Zong-Liang Yang,Zong-Liang Yang,Marcelo Somos-Valenzuela,Venkatesh Merwade,David R. Maidment,Yan Wang,Li Chen +8 more
TL;DR: Lin et al. as discussed by the authors evaluated a large-scale hydrologic modeling framework (WRF-Hydro-RAPID) in terms of its high-resolution simulation of evapotranspiration (ET) and streamflow over Texas (drainage area: 464,135 km).

C. H. B. Priestley,R. J. Taylor +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, the large-scale parameterization of the surface fluxes of sensible and latent heat is properly expressed in terms of energetic considerations over land while formulas of the bulk aerodynamic type are most suitahle over the sea.

Summarizing multiple aspects of model performance in a single diagram
TL;DR: In this article, a diagram has been devised that can provide a concise statistical summary of how well patterns match each other in terms of their correlation, their root-mean-square difference, and the ratio of their variances.

Evaporation and environment.
TL;DR: Progress towards a reconciliation of parallel concepts in meteorology and physiology is described, which stresses the importance of physiological restraint on the rate of transpiration from an irrigated field surrounded by dry land.
