Influenza vaccine in COVID-19 patients: Who?, why?, when?

TL;DR: Dospinescu et al. as mentioned in this paper showed that patients who have been vaccinated against influenza have developed milder forms of confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection and increased influenza vaccination coverage has shown to be associated with a decrease in mortality rate and also reduced the heavy impact of double infection.

Determinants of SARS-CoV-2 nasopharyngeal testing in a rural community sample: the CHRIS COVID-19 study

TL;DR: Contextual determinants reflecting the course of the pandemic were predominant compared to individual sociodemographic characteristics in explaining the SARS-CoV-2 probability testing and decision makers should evaluate whether the intended target groups were correctly prioritized by the testing campaign.
Journal ArticleDOI

The impact of influenza vaccination on surgical outcomes in COVID-19 positive patients: An analysis of 43,580 patients

TL;DR: In this article , the influence of the influenza vaccine against post-operative complications in SARS-CoV-2-positive patients was analyzed using common procedural terminology (CPT) codes.

Soziale Ungleichheit in der regionalen Ausbreitung von SARS-CoV-2

TL;DR: In this article, analysen von Meldedaten aus Deutschland untersucht regionale Daten gemeldeter COVID-19-Falle fur die 401 Landkreise und kreisfreien Stadte (Kreisebene) in Deutsch Germany and vergleicht den zeitlichen Verlauf entlang soziookonomischer Merkmale der Kreise.

Assessing the impact of coronavirus disease 2019 on mortality: a population-based, matched case-control study

TL;DR: In this paper , the isolated effect of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) on the risk of mortality is estimated, and an unconditional logistic regression analysis was performed to identify independent risk factors for mortality, whereas influenza vaccination and high body mass index were associated with lower rates of mortality.

Clinical course and risk factors for mortality of adult inpatients with COVID-19 in Wuhan, China: a retrospective cohort study.

TL;DR: Wang et al. as discussed by the authors used univariable and multivariable logistic regression methods to explore the risk factors associated with in-hospital death, including older age, high SOFA score and d-dimer greater than 1 μg/mL.
Journal ArticleDOI

Epidemiological and clinical characteristics of 99 cases of 2019 novel coronavirus pneumonia in Wuhan, China: a descriptive study

TL;DR: Characteristics of patients who died were in line with the MuLBSTA score, an early warning model for predicting mortality in viral pneumonia, and further investigation is needed to explore the applicability of the Mu LBSTA scores in predicting the risk of mortality in 2019-nCoV infection.

The REDCap consortium: Building an international community of software platform partners.

TL;DR: The Research Electronic Data Capture (REDCap) data management platform was developed in 2004 to address an institutional need at Vanderbilt University, then shared with a limited number of adopting sites beginning in 2006, and a broader consortium sharing and support model was created.
