The impact of surface oxidation on energy spectra of keV ions scattered from transition metals

TL;DR: In this article, the influence of surface oxygen on ion spectra recorded for keV noble gas ions backscattered from metal surfaces in low energy ion scattering (LEIS) was investigated.

Pd–Mn Silica-Supported Catalysts: 2. Description of the Catalytic Sites and Surface Properties for CO and NO Chemisorption

TL;DR: In this paper, a detailed study of the surface structure and composition of the catalytic sites was undertaken, and the combination of analytical microscopy and EXAFS confirms the presence of bimetallic particles in which manganese is partly alloyed to palladium, which is attributed to a segregation of this element at the surface.

Surface Analysis Methods for Contaminant Identification

TL;DR: In this article, the authors consider factors such as the size, shape, morphology, composition, volatility, concentration, and history of both the substrate and the contaminant and decide whether the study should provide qualitative or quantitative results and what specific type of information is required.

Growth and structure of thin Pt films on Cu(111) studied by low energy Li+ ion scattering

TL;DR: In this paper, the growth and structure of thin Pt films on Cu(111) have been studied by low energy Li+ ion scattering and the results are compared to those obtained from a Cu3Pt(1) single crystal alloy.
Journal ArticleDOI

Ion beam triangulation based on electron detection for studies on the structure of 1 ML Mn on Cu(001)

TL;DR: Key features are the pronounced change of electron emission for the projectile beam aligned along a low index crystallographic direction in the surface plane ('axial surface channeling') and the interpretation of data in terms of classical trajectory computer simulations.

A Monte Carlo computer program for the transport of energetic ions in amorphous targets

TL;DR: In this article, a Monte Carlo computer program was developed for determining ion range and damage distributions as well as angular and energy distributions of backscattered and transmitted ions in amorphous targets.

The theory of atomic collisions

TL;DR: The perturbation theory has been applied to many-body problems and applications, such as electron collisions with atoms, collisions between atomic systems, nuclear collisions, and certain aspects of two-body systems under relativistic collisions.
