Low-energy ion scattering at surfaces
TLDR
The field of low-energy ion scattering for surface interactions at metals, alloys, catalysts and semiconductors is reviewed in this article, where the basic principles, classical scattering theory, the effect of shadowing and blocking, and some of the computer simulation programs are briefly described.About:

Rainbow scattering under axial surface channeling
H. Winter,A. Schüller +1 more
TL;DR: For scattering of fast atoms from metal surfaces under axial channeling conditions, this paper observed pronounced peaks in the angular distributions of scattered projectiles which can be interpreted in terms of rainbow scattering.

Scattering of hyperthermal nitrogen atoms from the Ag(111) surface.
TL;DR: Measurements on scattering of hyperthermal N atoms from the Ag(111) surface at temperatures of 500, 600, and 730 K are presented and there are noteworthy features in the angle-resolved energy of the scattered N when compared with Ar.

An apparatus for ion-surface collisional process studies and surface analysis
TL;DR: In this article, an experimental setup allowing both surface and interface analysis and ion-surface collisional process studies is described, which consists of an ion beam line which provides 1-80 keV mass analysed rare gas and alkali-metal ions, and an UHV chamber.

Growth, structure and stability of ultrathin iron films on Cu(001)
TL;DR: In this paper, room temperature deposited ultrathin iron films on Cu(001) were studied by low-energy ion scattering, and the films do not grow in a layer-by-layer fashion, as even at submonolayer coverages iron atoms are observed in the second layer due to iron incorporation into the original surface layer.
Journal ArticleDOI
Preparation and characterization of planar Ni-Au bimetallic model catalysts
TL;DR: In this article, surface compositions and electronic structures of Ni-Au thin films were characterized by low energy ion scattering spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectrography, respectively.

A Monte Carlo computer program for the transport of energetic ions in amorphous targets
J.P. Biersack,L.G. Haggmark +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, a Monte Carlo computer program was developed for determining ion range and damage distributions as well as angular and energy distributions of backscattered and transmitted ions in amorphous targets.

The theory of atomic collisions
TL;DR: The perturbation theory has been applied to many-body problems and applications, such as electron collisions with atoms, collisions between atomic systems, nuclear collisions, and certain aspects of two-body systems under relativistic collisions.
