Toward synergy of carbon and La2O3 in their hybrid as an efficient catalyst for the oxygen reduction reaction

TL;DR: In this paper, a set of rare earth (La, Ce, Y) oxides and carbon nanoparticles with different loadings were prepared by chemical precipitation in alkaline solution, followed by calcination treatment, and the electrochemical experiments showed that the catalyst with 80 wt% of La2O3 exhibits the highest electrochemical activity in catalyzing the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR).

Sumio Iijima
- 01 Nov 1991 -
TL;DR: Iijima et al. as mentioned in this paper reported the preparation of a new type of finite carbon structure consisting of needle-like tubes, which were produced using an arc-discharge evaporation method similar to that used for fullerene synthesis.
