Dexmedetomidine Provides Protection Against Hippocampal Neuron Apoptosis and Cognitive Impairment in Mice with Alzheimer’s Disease by Mediating the miR-129/YAP1/JAG1 Axis

TL;DR: The findings showed that Dex administration resulted in the enhancement of miR-129 expression with declined hippocampal neuron apoptosis and attenuated cognitive impairment in Aβ1–42-injected mice, suggesting the miR -129/YAP1/JAG1 axis could potentially be the mechanism by which Dex protects AD mice from cognitive impairment.

MicroRNA-24 Regulates Macrophage Behavior and Retards Atherosclerosis

TL;DR: The data demonstrates that downregulation of microRNA-24 promotes an invasive macrophage subset and plays a novel regulatory role in MMP-14 proteolytic activity and, therefore, plaque stability, highlighting its therapeutic potential.

microRNA-33 Regulates ApoE Lipidation and Amyloid-β Metabolism in the Brain.

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that inhibition of microRNA-33 increases lipidation of brain ApoE and reduces Aβ levels by inducing ABCA1, and a unique approach for AD therapeutics to increase Apolipoprotein E lipidation and reduce A β levels via pharmacological inhibition ofmicroRNA in vivo is provided.

Loss-of-function mutation in ABCA1 and risk of Alzheimer's disease and cerebrovascular disease.

TL;DR: The adenosine triphosphate‐binding cassette transporter A1 (ABCA1) is a major cholesterol transporter highly expressed in the liver and brain and may be involved in maintenance of the blood‐brain barrier via apoE‐mediated pathways.

Major Involvement of Low-Density Lipoprotein Receptor-Related Protein 1 in the Clearance of Plasma Free Amyloid β-Peptide by the Liver

TL;DR: LRP-1 is the major receptor responsible for the saturable uptake of plasma free Aβ(1–40) by the liver, and reduction of LRP- 1 expression will play a role in the age-related reduction in hepatic A β(1-40) clearance.
