TLDR
There is a protective effect of U83836E in ischemia-reperfusion injury, in that tissue damage due to oxidative stress is reduced, thus ameliorating renal function impairment.

Possible Protective Potential of Atorvastatin and Black Seed (Nigella Sativa) Oil in Amikacin induced Nephrotoxicity in Adult Male Albino Rats

TL;DR: The present results indicate that the combination of ATO and NSO significantly minimizes AMK-induced nephrotoxicity in albino rats, may be due to their antioxidant properties.

Morphological Changes Produced by Aminoglycoside Induced Nephrotoxicity - An Experimental Study

TL;DR: It is concluded that Aminoglycosides cause nephrotoxicity by producing damaging effects on renal tubules especially at higher does, so their administration should carefully be monitored for early detection and prevention of toxic effects.
Journal ArticleDOI

Renal ischemia/reperfusion injury inhibits differentiation of dendritic cells derived from bone marrow monocytes in rats.

TL;DR: I/R stress reduces the number of DCs differentiated from bone marrow monocytes but not the functional activity of these DCs, and immunohistochemistry showed infiltrating DCs in the outer medulla of the I/R injured kidney at 2 d but not 14 d of reperfusion, suggesting a stress-induced downshift in the capacity of BMMos to differentiate into DCs and a parallel upshift to infiltrate the kidney.

Lazaroid U-83836E improves tolerance to hemorrhagic shock and limb ischemia and reperfusion in rats and increases cardiac heat shock protein 72

TL;DR: Pretreatment with the lazaroid U-83836E improved mean arterial blood pressure after hemorrhagic shock and fluid resuscitation and increased expression of heat shock proteins of the 72-kDa family, causing observed protection of organs from ischemia-reperfusion damage.

Protective effects of the BuOH fraction from mustard leaf in a renal ischemia-reperfusion model.

TL;DR: The results suggest that the BuOH fraction has protective effects against ischemia-reperfusion injury, acting as an antioxidant by scavenging O2-, inhibiting O2- generation through XOD, protecting against lipid peroxidation and ameliorating renal functional impairment.

Novel 21-amino steroids as potent inhibitors of iron-dependent lipid peroxidation.

TL;DR: Two representative compounds from a novel chemical series of potent inhibitors of lipid peroxidation are described and one of the compounds, U74500A, may act as a membrane localized chelator of iron.

TL;DR: The glycerol model of acute renal failure in the rabbit was found to differ in several significant ways from ATN in man and may have an entirely different pathogenesis.

21-Aminosteroid lipid peroxidation inhibitor U74006F protects against cerebral ischemia in gerbils.

TL;DR: It is shown that U74006F can improve survival and attenuate neuronal necrosis in a severe brain ischemia model and comparison of neuronal densities in the ischemic hemisphere with those in the contralateral nonischemic hemisphere revealed significant neuronal preservation.
