Abstract
Two separated observers, by applying local operations to a supply of not-too-impure entangled states (e.g., singlets shared through a noisy channel), can prepare a smaller number of entangled pairs of arbitrarily high purity (e.g., near-perfect singlets). These can then be used to faithfully teleport unknown quantum states from one observer to the other, thereby achieving faithful transmission of quantum information through a noisy channel. We give upper and lower bounds on the yield $D\left(M\right)$ of pure singlets $(|{\ensuremath{\Psi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}〉)$ distillable from mixed states $M$, showing $D\left(M\right)g0$ if $〈{\ensuremath{\Psi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}|M|{\ensuremath{\Psi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}〉g\frac{1}{2}$.

Resource theory of quantum thermodynamics: Thermal operations and Second Laws

TL;DR: In this article, thermal interactions are modelled as a resource theory, and the state transition conditions arising out of such a framework, are then referred to as "second laws", which are applied to study fundamental limitations to the performance of quantum heat engines.

Multi-photon Entanglement Concentration Protocol for Partially Entangled W States with Projection Measurement

TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a novel entanglement concentration protocol (ECP) for nonlocal N-photon systems in a partially entangled pure W-class state, following some ideas in the work by Deng.

Method and system for lidar using spatial information from a light source in combination with nonspatial information influenced by the subject to derive an image

TL;DR: In this paper, a method and system for at least three dimensional imaging comprising a processor for processing information, at least one photon light source generating a beam of light, a modulator for modulating the light of the at least 1 photon light sources, a plurality of first receivers operative to detect the influence of a subject on the beam, the plurality of receivers being operatively connected to the processor and operating to transmit nonspatial information to the Processor, whereby comparison of each of the outputs of the first receivers provided three dimensional information concerning the subject, the processor operating to correlate the

Determining the dimensionality of bipartite orbital-angular-momentum entanglement using multi-sector phase masks

TL;DR: In this paper, the Shannon dimensionality of OAM entanglement produced in spontaneous parametric down-conversion can be probed by using multi-sector phase analysers, and a spatial light modulator-based implementation of these analysers is demonstrated.

Enhancing entanglement trapping by weak measurement and quantum measurement reversal

TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a scheme to enhance the entanglement trapping of two qubits in the environment of a photonic band gap material by combining weak measurements and quantum measurement reversals.

Concentrating partial entanglement by local operations

TL;DR: Any pure or mixed entangled state of two systems can be produced by two classically communicating separated observers, drawing on a supply of singlets as their sole source of entanglement.

Generalized privacy amplification

TL;DR: This paper provides a general treatment of privacy amplification by public discussion, a concept introduced by Bennett, Brassard, and Robert for a special scenario, and yields results on wiretap and broadcast channels for a considerably strengthened definition of secrecy capacity.
