Abstract
Two separated observers, by applying local operations to a supply of not-too-impure entangled states (e.g., singlets shared through a noisy channel), can prepare a smaller number of entangled pairs of arbitrarily high purity (e.g., near-perfect singlets). These can then be used to faithfully teleport unknown quantum states from one observer to the other, thereby achieving faithful transmission of quantum information through a noisy channel. We give upper and lower bounds on the yield $D\left(M\right)$ of pure singlets $(|{\ensuremath{\Psi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}〉)$ distillable from mixed states $M$, showing $D\left(M\right)g0$ if $〈{\ensuremath{\Psi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}|M|{\ensuremath{\Psi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}〉g\frac{1}{2}$.

Autonomous multipartite entanglement engines

TL;DR: In this article, the authors explore an alternative route to this task, via autonomous entanglement engines which use only incoherent coupling to thermal baths and time-independent interactions, and demonstrate the potential of purely thermal resources for creating multipartite entangled states useful for quantum information processing.

Generating stationary entangled states in superconducting qubits

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed a method to minimize the loss of entanglement of two-qubit superconducting circuits with controllable parameters by tuning both the single qubit parameters and coupling strengths.

One-way quantum repeaters with quantum Reed-Solomon codes

TL;DR: It is shown that quantum Reed- Solomon codes constructed from classical Reed-Solomon codes can approach the capacity on the quantum erasure channel of $d$-level systems for large dimension $d$.

Are there basic laws of quantum information processing

TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that the no-increasing of entanglement is equivalent to the principle of no-cloning in the quantum formalism without reduction, and that the result is a manifestation of general principles governing quantum information processing analogous to the thermodynamic laws.

Towards quantum networks of single spins: analysis of a quantum memory with an optical interface in diamond

TL;DR: This work presents a theoretical framework to describe the dephasing of the nuclear spins under repeated generation of NV spin-photon entanglement and shows that quantum states can be stored during hundreds of repetitions using typical experimental coupling parameters.

Concentrating partial entanglement by local operations

TL;DR: Any pure or mixed entangled state of two systems can be produced by two classically communicating separated observers, drawing on a supply of singlets as their sole source of entanglement.

Generalized privacy amplification

TL;DR: This paper provides a general treatment of privacy amplification by public discussion, a concept introduced by Bennett, Brassard, and Robert for a special scenario, and yields results on wiretap and broadcast channels for a considerably strengthened definition of secrecy capacity.
