Rogue waves and their generating mechanisms in different physical contexts

TLDR
In this paper, the authors introduce the concept of rogue waves, which is the name given by oceanographers to isolated large amplitude waves, that occur more frequently than expected for normal, Gaussian distributed, statistical events.

Instabilities, breathers and rogue waves in optics

TL;DR: Curious wave phenomena that occur in optical fibres due to the interplay of instability and nonlinear effects are reviewed in this article, where the authors propose a method to detect such phenomena.

Supercontinuum generation, photonic crystal fiber

TL;DR: In this article, a review of numerical and experimental studies of supercontinuum generation in photonic crystal fiber is presented over the full range of experimentally reported parameters, from the femtosecond to the continuous-wave regime.

Roadmap on optical rogue waves and extreme events

TL;DR: The concept of optical rogue wave was introduced by Solli et al. as discussed by the authors, who defined it as "an optical pulse whose amplitude or intensity is much higher than that of the surrounding pulses".

Measurements of wind-wave growth and swell decay during the Joint North Sea Wave Project (JONSWAP)

TL;DR: In this article, wave spectra were measured along a profile extending 160 kilometers into the North Sea westward from Sylt for a period of two weeks in 1968 and 1969, with particular emphasis on wave growth under stationary offshore wind conditions and the attenuation of swell in water of finite depth.

Stability of periodic waves of finite amplitude on the surface of a deep fluid

TL;DR: In this article, the stability of steady nonlinear waves on the surface of an infinitely deep fluid with a free surface was studied. And the authors considered the problem of stability of surface waves as part of the more general problem of nonlinear wave in media with dispersion.
