Proteoglycans from bovine proximal humeral articular cartilage. Structural basis for the polydispersity of proteoglycan subunit.

TL;DR: The pattern of polydispersity observed strongly supports the concept that proteoglycan subunit core protein contains a hyaluronic acid-binding region of constant size and composition and a polysaccharide attachment region of variable length and composition, composed of repeating peptide sequences containing serine and glycine in equimolar amounts.
Journal ArticleDOI

Stabilization of low denaturation temperature collagen from fish by physical cross-linking methods.

TL;DR: Collagen matrices were prepared from atelo salmon collagen (SC) by sponging at 37 degrees C, and partial denaturation of the collagen molecules resulted in shrinkage of the matrices.

Magnetic resonance imaging reflects cartilage proteoglycan degradation in the rabbit knee.

TL;DR: Reduced articular cartilage thickness in the MR images of papain-treated knees corresponded to changes in cartilage proteoglycan content.

Inhibition of 5-LOX, COX-1, and COX-2 Increases Tendon Healing and Reduces Muscle Fibrosis and Lipid Accumulation After Rotator Cuff Repair

TL;DR: The postoperative treatment of cuff repair with licofelone may reduce fatty degeneration and enhance the development of a stable bone-tendon interface, although decreases in muscle fiber specific force production were observed, and force production in fact declined.
Journal ArticleDOI

A therapeutic approach for wound healing by using essential oils of cupressus and juniperus species growing in Turkey.

TL;DR: In this paper, essential oils obtained from cones of Cupressus and berries of Juniperus were evaluated for their wound healing and anti-inflammatory effects, and wound healing activity was evaluated by linear incision and circular excision experimental wound models, assessment of hydroxyproline content, and subsequently histopathological analysis.

The determination of hydroxyproline.

TL;DR: A short and simple calorimetric method is here described that is applicable to the determination of hydroxyproline in hydrolysates of 40 to 100 y of collagen with a reproducibility of f2 per cent and an accuracy of f1 per cent as judged by recovery of hydroXYproline from elastin hydrolysate and from an amino acid mixture simulating collagen.
Journal ArticleDOI

Formation of collagen hydroxyproline in vitro

TL;DR: Stetten (1949) suggested that free hydroxyproline was not an intermediate in collagen biosynthesis and that hydroxylation of the proline residues occurred at the protein or peptide stage.
