TLDR
Method has been applied to a study of hydroxyproline distribution in cell particulates, tissue fluids, and purified plant and animal proteins, and significant amounts of hydroXYproline were found in crystalline preparations of pepsin, elastase.

Mouse Models of Bleomycin‐Induced Pulmonary Fibrosis

TL;DR: Methods for delivering bleomycin, either directly into the lung or systemically, to create models of pulmonary fibrosis in rodents are described and a rapid and easy procedure for measuring lung collagen content to quantify the severity of fibrosis is described.

Hydroalcoholic extract based-ointment from Punica granatum L. peels with enhanced in vivo healing potential on dermal wounds

TL;DR: The formulated ointment might well find use as skin repair agent without hazard to human health based on these results and on the fact that it has been well established that the extracts of pomegranate used in conditions similar to those applied by traditional medicine, showed no toxic effects.

Implications of oxidative stress and hepatic cytokine (TNF-α and IL-6) response in the pathogenesis of hepatic collagenesis in chronic arsenic toxicity

TL;DR: Significant increase of lipid peroxidation and protein oxidation in the liver associated with depletion of hepatic thiols and antioxidant enzymes occurred in mice due to prolonged arsenic exposure in a dose-dependent manner.

Meat quality and composition of three muscles from French cull cows and young bulls

TL;DR: Considering both young bulls and cull cows together, tenderness was highest in the meats from 15-month-old bulls and low in the meat from the intermediate age groups, and flavour and juiciness was highest from the oldest animals from each production system.

Mechanical properties and remodeling of hybrid cardiac constructs made from heart cells, fibrin, and biodegradable, elastomeric knitted fabric.

TL;DR: The data showed that hybrid cardiac constructs initially exhibited supraphysiologic UTS, epsilon(f), and E, and remodeled in response to serum and stretch in vitro and in an ectopic in vivo model.

The determination of hydroxyproline.

TL;DR: A short and simple calorimetric method is here described that is applicable to the determination of hydroxyproline in hydrolysates of 40 to 100 y of collagen with a reproducibility of f2 per cent and an accuracy of f1 per cent as judged by recovery of hydroXYproline from elastin hydrolysate and from an amino acid mixture simulating collagen.
Journal ArticleDOI

Formation of collagen hydroxyproline in vitro

TL;DR: Stetten (1949) suggested that free hydroxyproline was not an intermediate in collagen biosynthesis and that hydroxylation of the proline residues occurred at the protein or peptide stage.
