TLDR
In this article, a fast spreading epidemic across the globe and has serious implications far beyond that of a "benign" liver condition is discussed, which is usually an outcome of ectopic fat storage due to chronic positive energy balance leading to obesity and is associated with multiple health problems.

Irisin Is Related to Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD)

TL;DR: It is observed that NAFLD was associated with an increased concentration of irisin and Spearman correlations and linear regression analysis revealed that irisin level correlates with some anthropometric and biochemical parameters such as body mass index, glycated hemoglobin, aspartic aminotransferase, creatinine and urea.

Obesity and Main Urologic Cancers: Current Systematic Evidence, Novel Biological Mechanisms, Perspectives and Challenges.

TL;DR: In this paper , the role of obesity in the development and progression of urologic cancers was examined. And the molecular pathways that link obesity to the development of these cancers were reviewed.

Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease is specifically related to the risk of hepatocellular cancer but not extrahepatic malignancies

TL;DR: In this article , a matched cohort study among individuals with and without nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) was performed to determine: 1) the incidence of cancers (extrahepatic and liver) and their spectrum and 2) if NAFLD increases the risk of extra hepatic cancers.

Global burden of NAFLD and NASH: trends, predictions, risk factors and prevention

TL;DR: The large number of patients with NAFLD with potential for progressive liver disease creates challenges for screening, as the diagnosis of NASH necessitates invasive liver biopsy.

A new definition for metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease: An international expert consensus statement.

TL;DR: A panel of international experts from 22 countries propose a new definition of metabolic-dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease that is both comprehensive yet simple for the diagnosis of MAFLD and is independent of other liver diseases.
