Journal ArticleDOI
Psychological symptoms correlate with reduced hippocampal volume in fragile X premutation carriers.
Patrick E. Adams,John Adams,Danh V. Nguyen,David R Hessl,James A. Brunberg,Flora Tassone,Wenting Zhang,Kami Koldewyn,Susan M. Rivera,Jim Grigsby,Lin Zhang,Charles DeCarli,Paul J. Hagerman,Randi J Hagerman +13 more
TL;DR: A significant negative correlation between total hippocampal volume and anxiety in female carriers, with and without FXTAS was found, and other anxiety‐related subscales also correlated with the right hippocampus in females.
Journal ArticleDOI
Erratum: Common variants at 6q22 and 17q21 are associated with intracranial volume (Nature Genetics (2012) 44 (539-544))
M. Arfan Ikram,Myriam Fornage,Albert V. Smith,Sudha Seshadri,Reinhold E. Schmidt,Stéphanie Debette,Henri A. Vrooman,Sigurdur Sigurdsson,Stefan Ropele,H. Rob Taal,Dennis O. Mook-Kanamori,Laura H. Journal ArticleDOI
Influence of functional connectivity and structural MRI measures on episodic memory.
Jing He,Owen Carmichael,Evan Fletcher,Baljeet Singh,Ana-Maria Iosif,Oliver Martinez,Bruce R Reed,Andrew P. Yonelinas,Charles DeCarli +8 more
TL;DR: The relationship between resting state functional connectivity and memory performance, particularly amongst those individuals with more brain atrophy, strongly suggests compensation against the effects of neuronal injury.
Journal ArticleDOI
Association of serum soluble receptor for advanced glycation end-products with subclinical cerebrovascular disease: the Northern Manhattan Study (NOMAS)
Barry I. Hudson,Yeseon P. Moon,Anastasia Z. Kalea,Minesh Khatri,Chensy Marquez,Ann Marie Schmidt,Myunghee Cho Paik,Mitsuhiro Yoshita,Ralph L. Sacco,Charles DeCarli,Clinton B. Wright,Mitchell S.V. Elkind +11 more
TL;DR: Compared to whites, Hispanics and blacks have significantly lower sRAGE levels, and these levels were associated with more subclinical brain disease and therefore may be significantly influence by ethnicity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Chronic Depressive Symptomatology in Mild Cognitive Impairment Is Associated with Frontal Atrophy Rate which Hastens Conversion to Alzheimer Dementia
Simona Sacuiu,Simona Sacuiu,Simona Sacuiu,Philip S. Insel,Susanne G. Mueller,Susanne G. Mueller,Duygu Tosun,Duygu Tosun,Niklas Mattsson,Niklas Mattsson,Niklas Mattsson,Clifford R. Jack,Charles DeCarli,Ronald C. Petersen,Paul S. Aisen,Michael Weiner,Michael Weiner,R. Scott Mackin,R. Scott Mackin +18 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that chrDS associated with progressive atrophy of frontal regions may represent an additional risk factor for conversion to dementia in MCI as opposite to representing typical prodromal AD symptomatology.
