Long-term blood pressure fluctuation and cerebrovascular disease in an elderly cohort
Adam M. Brickman,Christiane Reitz,José A. Luchsinger,Jennifer J. Manly,Nicole Schupf,Jordan Muraskin,Charles DeCarli,Truman R. Brown,Richard Mayeux +8 more
TL;DR: Compared with individuals with low BP and low fluctuations in BP, the risk of cerebrovascular disease increased with higher BP and BP fluctuations, and interventions should focus on long-term fluctuating BP and elevated BP.
Journal ArticleDOI
White Matter Changes Compromise Prefrontal Cortex Function in Healthy Elderly Individuals
Christine Wu Nordahl,Charan Ranganath,Andrew P. Yonelinas,Charles DeCarli,Evan Fletcher,William J. Jagust +5 more
TL;DR: The hypothesis that white matter degeneration is associated with reduced prefrontal activation is tested and increases in both global and regional dorsal PFC WMH volume were associated with decreases in PFC activity, suggesting disruption of white matter tracts, especially within the PFC, may be a mechanism for age-related changes in memory functioning.
Journal ArticleDOI
Evidence for a role of the rare p.A152T variant in MAPT in increasing the risk for FTD-spectrum and Alzheimer's diseases

Schellenberg,Eckhard Mandelkow +211 more
TL;DR: These data provide the first genetic evidence and functional studies supporting the role of MAPT p.A152T as a rare risk factor for both FTD-s and AD and the concept that rare variants can increase the risk for relatively common, complex neurodegenerative diseases is suggested.
Journal ArticleDOI
X-chromosome effects on female brain: a magnetic resonance imaging study of Turner's syndrome
Declan G. Murphy,Charles DeCarli,Eileen Daly,James V. Haxby,G.E. Allen,Anthony R. McIntosh,Barry Horwitz,S. I. Rapoport,M. B. Schapiro,Beverly J. White,Cynthia M. Powell +10 more
TL;DR: It is postulate that in human beings the X chromosome plays an important part in the development and ageing of grey matter in striatum, diencephalon, and cerebral hemispheres.
Journal ArticleDOI
Imaging markers for Alzheimer disease: Which vs how
Giovanni B. Frisoni,Martina Bocchetta,Gaël Chételat,Gaël Chételat,Gaël Chételat,Gil D. Rabinovici,Mony J. de Leon,Jeffrey Kaye,Jeffrey Kaye,Eric M. Reiman,Philip Scheltens,Frederik Barkhof,Sandra E. Sperling,William Thies,Lars-Olof Wahlund,Michael W. Weiner,Michael W. Weiner,Patrizio Pasqualetti,Charles DeCarli +29 more
TL;DR: Diagnostic and prognostic accuracy of imaging AD biomarkers is at least as dependent on how the biomarker is measured as on the biomarking itself, and the largest proportion of diagnostic LR+ and LR− variability was within 18F-FDG-PET and MRI metrics, respectively.
