Expression and secretion of parathyroid hormone-related protein by human bone-derived cells in vitro: effects of glucocorticoids.
Christopher A. Walsh,M.A. Birch,William D. Fraser,R. Lawton,J. Dorgan,S. Walsh,David M. Sansom,Jon N. Beresford,James A. Gallagher +8 more
TL;DR: Production of parathyroid hormone‐related protein was inhibited by 10−6 M of the glucocorticoids, prednisolone and desacetylated deflazacort, in a dose‐dependent manner, and Transcripts for PTHrP were detected in a purified population of alkaline phosphatase positive cells isolated from human bone marrow cultures by flow cytometry, confirming the expression of P THrP mRNA by cells of the osteoblastic lineage.

TL;DR: Drop-seq used to profile RNA expression in telencephalic interneurons from humans, macaques, marmosets, and mice identified an abundant striatal interneuron type in primates that had no molecularly homologous cell population in mouse striatum, cortex, thalamus, or hippocampus.

Comprehensive EMX2 genotyping of a large schizencephaly case series.
Ian Tietjen,Adria Bodell,Adria Bodell,Kira Apse,Kira Apse,Ashley M. Mendonza,Bernard S. Chang,Gary M. Shaw,A. James Barkovich,Edward J. Lammer,Christopher A. Walsh,Christopher A. Walsh +11 more
TL;DR: To determine the frequency of EMX2 mutations in patients with schizencephaly, a cohort of 84 affected probands was sequenced and no pathologic mutations were identified in this cohort, suggesting that EMx2 mutations are an uncommon cause of schiziaphaly.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genes that regulate neuronal migration in the cerebral cortex.
TL;DR: Alarming abnormalities in signal transduction may be an underlying mechanism for the neuronal migration defects in DC/XLIS and the scrambler mouse, but further research is necessary to determine how such abnormalities give rise to cortical malformations and epilepsy.
Journal ArticleDOI
De novo and inherited private variants in MAP1B in periventricular nodular heterotopia.
Erin L. Heinzen,Adam C. O’Neill,Xiaolin Zhu,Andrew S. Allen,Melanie Bahlo,Jamel Chelly,Ming-Hui Chen,William B. Dobyns,Saskia Freytag,Renzo Guerrini,Richard J. Leventer,Annapurna Poduri,Stephen P. Robertson,Christopher A. Walsh,Mengqi Zhang +14 more
TL;DR: The findings suggest that detrimental mutations likely arising in immediately preceding generations with incomplete penetrance may also be responsible for some apparently sporadic diseases.
