Journal ArticleDOI

Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation for severe acute respiratory distress syndrome associated with COVID-19: a retrospective cohort study.

TL;DR: The clinical characteristics and outcomes of patients with respiratory failure and COVID-19 treated with ECMO were established and ECMO should be considered for patients developing refractory respiratory failure despite optimised care.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of anakinra versus usual care in adults in hospital with COVID-19 and mild-to-moderate pneumonia (CORIMUNO-ANA-1): a randomised controlled trial

Pierre-Louis Tharaux, +600 more
TL;DR: Anakinra did not improve outcomes in patients with mild-to-moderate COVID-19 pneumonia, and further studies are needed to assess the efficacy of anakinra in other selected groups of patients with more severe CO VID-19.
Journal ArticleDOI

Sodium bicarbonate therapy for patients with severe metabolic acidaemia in the intensive care unit (BICAR-ICU): a multicentre, open-label, randomised controlled, phase 3 trial.

TL;DR: Sodium bicarbonate decreased the primary composite outcome and day 28 mortality in the a-priori defined stratum of patients with acute kidney injury, and metabolic alkalosis, hypernatraemia, and hypocalcaemia were observed more frequently in the bic carbonate group than in the control group, with no life-threatening complications reported.
