TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the role of CEACAMs in the onset and pathogenesis of IBD in patients suffering from colon cancer and inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), and they found that CEAM1, -3, -5, -6, -7 expression correlated with the degree of inflammation in pediatric and adult IBD colon biopsies.

A randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical study: the effects of a synbiotic, Lepicol, in adults with chronic, functional constipation.
TL;DR: Symptoms of constipation improved to a greater degree and there was a significant reduction in laxative use in the Lepicol group, and both groups showed significant improvements in quality of life scores at 4 weeks.
