Sloan Digital Sky Survey IV: Mapping the Milky Way, Nearby Galaxies and the Distant Universe

Michael R. Blanton, +415 more
TL;DR: SDSS-IV as mentioned in this paper is a project encompassing three major spectroscopic programs: the Mapping Nearby Galaxies at Apache Point Observatory (MaNGA), the Extended Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey (eBOSS), and the Time Domain Spectroscopy Survey (TDSS).
Journal ArticleDOI

A census of the supersoft x-ray sources in m31

TL;DR: In this paper, the timescales of X-ray variability were studied for 89 supersoft x-ray sources (SSS) in M31, and it was shown that almost a third of the SSS are known classical or recurrent novae, and at least half of the others exhibit the same temporal behavior as post-outburst novae.
Journal ArticleDOI

The 1966-1967 Outburst of V1647 Orionis and the Appearance of McNeil’s Nebula

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present the results of an investigation aimed at characterizing previous eruptions of V1647 Orionis, the illuminating star of McNeil's Nebula, the only known eruption of 1966-1967 is the only one detected during the 38 yr period covered by the Asiago archive.
Journal ArticleDOI

X-ray grating observations of recurrent nova t pyxidis during the 2011 outburst

TL;DR: In this paper, Chandra and XMM-Newton X-ray gratings of T Pyx were observed for 210 and 235 days, respectively, after the discovery of the 2011 April 14 outburst.
