Yoshino,H. Zohm +56 more
TL;DR: A review of recent advances in the area of MHD stability and disruptions, since the publication of the 1999 ITER Physics Basis document (1999 Nucl. Fusion 39 2137-2664), is reviewed in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI
Numerical studies of edge localized instabilities in tokamaks
TL;DR: In this paper, a new computational tool, edge localized instabilities in tokamaks equilibria (ELITE), has been developed to help our understanding of short wavelength instabilities close to the edge of tokak plasmas.
Journal ArticleDOI
High fusion performance from deuterium-tritium plasmas in JET
M. Keilhacker,A. Gibson,C. Gormezano,P. J. Lomas,P.R. Thomas,M.L. Watkins,Philip Andrew,B. Balet,D. N. Borba,C. D. Challis,I. H. Coffey,G.A. Cottrell,H.P.L. de Esch,N. Deliyanakis,Ambrogio Fasoli,C. Söldner,A. Taroni,B.J.D. Tubbing,M. von Hellermann,D.J. Ward,Jet Team +35 more
TL;DR: In this paper, high fusion power experiments using DT mixtures in ELM-free H mode and optimized shear regimes in JET are reported, and a fusion power of 16.1 MW has been produced in an ELM free H mode at 4.2 MA/3.
Journal ArticleDOI
Bézier surfaces and finite elements for MHD simulations
Olivier Czarny,G. T. A. Huysmans +1 more
TL;DR: A finite element method based on bicubic Bezier surfaces is applied to the simulation of MHD instabilities relevant to magnetically confined fusion, allowing a natural way to implement mesh refinement strategy, which is not supported by a pure Hermite formulation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Internal transport barrier triggering by rational magnetic flux surfaces in tokamaks
E. Joffrin,C. D. Challis,Garrard Conway,Xavier Garbet,A. Gude,Sibylle Günter,N. C. Hawkes,T. C. Hender,D. F. Howell,G. T. A. Huysmans,E. Lazzaro,Patrick Maget,M. Marachek,A. G. Peeters,S. D. Pinches,S. E. Sharapov,Jet Efda contributors +16 more
TL;DR: The role of rational q surfaces in ITB triggering stresses the importance of q profile control for an advanced tokamak scenario and could assist in substantially lowering the access power to these scenarios in next step facilities as mentioned in this paper.
