Chapter 3: MHD stability, operational limits and disruptions

TL;DR: A review of recent advances in the area of MHD stability and disruptions, since the publication of the 1999 ITER Physics Basis document (1999 Nucl. Fusion 39 2137-2664), is reviewed in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI

High current regimes in RFX-mod

TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that the magnetic topology spontaneously self-organizes in an Ohmical helical symmetry, with the new magnetic axis helically twisting around the geometrical axis of the torus, leaving a wide and symmetric thermal structure with large gradients in the electron temperature profile.
Journal ArticleDOI

Physics research on the TCV tokamak facility: from conventional to alternative scenarios and beyond

Stefano Coda, +272 more
- 30 Aug 2019 -
TL;DR: In this article, a 1 MW neutral beam injector has been used to expand the parameter range of the TCV tokamak to include ELMy H-mode discharges sustained by electron cyclotron and neutral beam current drive.
Journal ArticleDOI

Studies on the response of resistive-wall modes to applied magnetic perturbations in the EXTRAP T2R reversed field pinch

TL;DR: Brunsell et al. as mentioned in this paper investigated the magnetic response to an applied resonant magnetic perturbation in the range of resistive-wall modes (RWMs) and found that the linear growth of low-n marginally stable RWMs is related to the so-called resonant-field amplification due to a dominant ∣n∣2 machine error field of about 2 G.
