Biological clocks: a cardiovascular perspective

TL;DR: The present review provides a short overview of the molecular basis of the oscillator, and discusses the current understanding of the role of clocks in cardiovascular physiology and summarizes potential entraining signals of relevance to cardiovascular function.
Journal ArticleDOI

Prostaglandin E2 Is a Potent Regulator of Vertebrate Hematopoietic Stem Cell Homeostasis.

TL;DR: Ex vivo treatment of murine bone marrow with dmPGE2 resulted in a 2-fold increase in CFU-S number and enhanced the frequency of multi-lineage engrafting HSCs more than 3-fold in a limiting dilution competitive repopulation assay, indicating that PGE2 also functions in regulating adult marrow HSC homeostasis.
Journal Article

Thromboxane biosynthesis and antagonism in humans.

TL;DR: Combined administration of TX antagonists and TX synthase inhibitors offers a theoretical advantage over aspirin which may ultimately justify their place in the therapy of vascular disease in humans.
Posted ContentDOI

Loss of Circadian Protection in Adults Exposed to Neonatal Hyperoxia

TL;DR: It is shown that neonatal hyperoxia abrogates the circadian protection from Influenza infection in recovered adults, and a novel role for the circadian clock in AT2 clock in mediating long-term effects of early life exposures to the lungs.
