The pleiotropic role of p53 in functional/dysfunctional neurons: focus on pathogenesis and diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease.
Giulia Abate,Giovanni B. Frisoni,Jean-Christophe Bourdon,Simona Piccirella,Maurizio Memo,Daniela Uberti +5 more
TL;DR: The role of p53 in the early development and exacerbation of AD pathology, both in the brain and periphery is revisited and the conformational variant of p 53 represents a potential peripheral biomarker that could detect AD at its earliest stages.
Journal ArticleDOI
Subcortical Vascular Lesions Predict Falls at 12 Months in Elderly Patients Discharged From a Rehabilitation Ward
Fabio Guerini,Giovanni B. Frisoni,Alessandra Marrè,Renato Turco,Giuseppe Bellelli,Marco Trabucchi +5 more
TL;DR: Subcortical vascular lesions are associated with falls at 12 months in elderly patients with gait disorder discharged from a rehabilitative ward, and age, sex, Mini-Mental State Examination, Barthel Index on admission, and subcorticals vascular lesions were the only significant predictor of risk of falling.
Journal ArticleDOI
The A/T/N model applied through imaging biomarkers in a memory clinic
Alessandra Dodich,Aline Mendes,Frédéric Assal,Christian Chicherio,Christian Chicherio,Barinjaka Rakotomiaramanana,Paulina Andryszak,Paulina Andryszak,Cristina Festari,Federica Ribaldi,Federica Ribaldi,Max Scheffler,Roger Schibli,Roger Schibli,Adam J. Schwarz,Adam J. Schwarz,Dina Zekry,Karl-Olof Lövblad,Marina Boccardi,Paul G. Unschuld,Gabriel Gold,Giovanni B. Frisoni,Giovanni B. Frisoni,Valentina Garibotto,Valentina Garibotto +24 more
TL;DR: This is the first study in which the A/T/N model is applied using 18F-flortaucipir PET in a memory clinic population and the majority of patients showed a profile consistent with the Alzheimer’s continuum, while a minor percentage showed a profiles suggestive of possible other neurodegenerative diseases.
Journal ArticleDOI
Biomarker-based diagnosis of mild cognitive impairment due to Alzheimer's disease: how and what to tell. A kickstart to an ethical discussion.
TL;DR: The ethical challenges involved in the use of biomarkers to make a diagnosis of mild cognitive impairment due to AD and disclose it to patients are identified and guidelines for informed consent development and diagnostic disclosure are suggested.
Journal ArticleDOI
Predicting and Tracking Short Term Disease Progression in Amnestic Mild Cognitive Impairment Patients with Prodromal Alzheimer’s Disease: Structural Brain Biomarkers
Moira Marizzoni,Clarissa Ferrari,Jorge Jovicich,Diego Albani,Claudio Babiloni,Libera Cavaliere,Mira Didic,Gianluigi Forloni,Samantha Galluzzi,Karl-Titus Hoffmann,José Luis Molinuevo,Flavio Nobili,Lucilla Parnetti,Pierre Payoux,Federica Ribaldi,Paolo Maria Rossini,Peter Schönknecht,Andrea Soricelli,Tilman Hensch,Magda Tsolaki,Pieter Jelle Visser,Jens Wiltfang,Jill C. Richardson,Régis Bordet,Olivier Blin,Giovanni B. Frisoni +25 more
TL;DR: MRI structural biomarkers can enrich prodromal AD with fast progressors and significantly decrease group size in clinical trials of disease modifying drugs.
