Journal ArticleDOI
Analysis of alpha-2-macroglobulin-2 allele as a risk factor in Alzheimer's disease.
Francesca Nicosia,Antonella Alberici,Luisa Benussi,Laura Gasparini,Roberta Ghidoni,Federica Mazzoli,Orazio Zanetti,Giovanni B. Frisoni,Cristina Geroldi,Giuliano Binetti +9 more
TL;DR: The results did not show any significant difference between A2M-2 allelic frequency or genotype frequency in the two different clinical series and in control subjects and the frequencies were not significantly different after stratification by APOE Ε4 status.
Journal ArticleDOI
Impact of alcohol consumption in healthy adults: A magnetic resonance imaging investigation
Antonio Preti,Cristina Muscio,Marina Boccardi,Marco Lorenzi,Giovanni de Girolamo,Giovanni B. Frisoni +5 more
TL;DR: The impact of alcohol on brain morphology was studied in a large group of cognitively intact people whose consumption of alcohol was below the threshold for abuse and direct WM and GM comparisons between alcohol users and non-users did not detect significant differences.
Posted ContentDOI
Genome-wide association study of Alzheimer’s disease CSF biomarkers in the EMIF-AD Multimodal Biomarker Discovery dataset
Shengjun Hong,Dmitry Prokopenko,Valerija Dobricic,Fabian Kilpert,Isabelle Bos,Stephanie J. B. Vos,Betty M. Tijms,Ulf Andreasson,Ulf Andreasson,Kaj Blennow,Kaj Blennow,Rik Vandenberghe,Isabelle Cleynen,Silvy Gabel,Jolien Schaeverbeke,Philip Scheltens,Charlotte E. Teunissen,Ellis Niemantsverdriet,Sebastiaan Engelborghs,Sebastiaan Engelborghs,Giovanni B. Frisoni,Olivier Blin,Jill C. Tanzi,Pieter Jelle Visser,Lars Bertram,Lars Bertram +50 more
TL;DR: This study represents a detailed first account of GWAS analyses on CSF-Aβ and -tau related traits in the EMIF-AD MBD dataset, and will utilize the genomics data generated here in GWAS of other AD-relevant clinical outcomes ascertained in this unique dataset.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of the XbaI polymorphism of estrogen receptor alpha on postmenopausal gray matter
Marina Boccardi,Catia Scassellati,Roberta Ghidoni,Cristina Testa,Luisa Benussi,Matteo Bonetti,Luisella Bocchio-Chiavetto,Massimo Gennarelli,Giuliano Binetti,Giovanni B. Frisoni +9 more
TL;DR: The XbaI/X allele in ERalpha gene is associated to smaller gray matter volumes of the cerebral and cerebellar cortex, which might increase the susceptibility for senile neurodegenerative conditions, being related to smaller cerebral reserve.
Journal ArticleDOI
Resting-state electroencephalographic delta rhythms may reflect global cortical arousal in healthy old seniors and patients with Alzheimer's disease dementia
Claudio Babiloni,Raffaele Ferri,Giuseppe Noce,Roberta Lizio,Susanna Lopez,Andrea Soricelli,Flavio Nobili,Dario Arnaldi,Francesco Famà,Francesco Orzi,Carla Buttinelli,Franco Giubilei,Virginia Cipollini,Moira Marizzoni,Bahar Güntekin,Tuba Aktürk,Lutfu Hanoglu,Görsev Yener,Derya Durusu Emek-Savaş,Fabrizio Stocchi,Laura Vacca,Giovanni B. Frisoni,Claudio Del Percio +22 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that even in quiet wakefulness, delta and alpha rhythms are related to each other, and ADD partially affects this cross-band neurophysiological mechanism.
