Cortical networks generating movement-related EEG rhythms in Alzheimer's disease: an EEG coherence study.
Claudio Babiloni,Carlo Miniussi,Davide V. Moretti,Fabrizio Vecchio,Serenella Salinari,Giovanni B. Frisoni,Paolo Maria Rossini +6 more
TL;DR: Patients with mild Alzheimer's disease present with abnormally strong values of frontal and ipsilateral central sensorimotor rhythms and these findings support the hypothesis of an impaired mechanism of sensorim motor cortical coupling (disconnection) in mild AD.
Journal ArticleDOI
Preclinical effects of APOE ε4 on cerebrospinal fluid Aβ42 concentrations
Ronald Lautner,Ronald Lautner,Philip S. Insel,Philip S. Insel,Philip S. Insel,Tobias Skillbäck,Tobias Skillbäck,Bob Olsson,Bob Olsson,Mikael Landén,Mikael Landén,Giovanni B. Frisoni,Sanna-Kaisa Herukka,Harald Hampel,Anders Wallin,Lennart Minthon,Oskar Hansson,Kaj Blennow,Kaj Blennow,Niklas Mattsson,Henrik Zetterberg,Henrik Zetterberg,Henrik Zetterberg +22 more
TL;DR: There is an APOE ε4-dependent period of early alterations in amyloid homeostasis that several years later, together with other downstream pathological events such as tau pathology, translates into cognitive decline.
Journal ArticleDOI
Education modulates brain maintenance in presymptomatic frontotemporal dementia
Stefano Gazzina,Mario Grassi,Enrico Premi,Maura Cosseddu,Antonella Alberici,Silvana Archetti,Roberto Gasparotti,John C. van Swieten,Daniela Galimberti,Raquel Sánchez-Valle,Robert Laforce,Fermin Moreno,Matthis Synofzik,Matthis Synofzik,Caroline Graff,Mario Masellis,Maria Carmela Tartaglia,James B. Rowe,Rik Vandenberghe,Elizabeth Finger,Fabrizio Tagliavini,Alexandre de Mendonça,Isabel Santana,Christopher C Butler,Simon Ducharme,Simon Ducharme,Simon Ducharme,Alexander Gerhard,A. Danek,Johannes Levin,Markus Otto,Giovanni B. Frisoni,Sandro Sorbi,Alessandro Padovani,Jonathan D. Rohrer,Barbara Borroni +35 more
TL;DR: High educational attainment was associated with slower loss of grey matter over time in mutation carriers, demonstrating that even in presence of ongoing pathological processes, education may facilitate both brain reserve and brain maintenance in the presymptomatic phase of genetic FTD.
Journal ArticleDOI
Clinical and neuropsychological features associated with structural imaging patterns in patients with mild cognitive impairment.
Roberta Rossi,Cristina Geroldi,Lorena Bresciani,Cristina Testa,Giuliano Binetti,Orazio Zanetti,Giovanni B. Frisoni +6 more
TL;DR: Structural neuroimaging can identify subgroups of MCI patients with specific clinical and neuropsychological features and to assess whether the rate of progression differs among groups.
Journal ArticleDOI
Abnormalities of functional cortical source connectivity of resting-state electroencephalographic alpha rhythms are similar in patients with mild cognitive impairment due to Alzheimer's and Lewy body diseases.
Claudio Babiloni,Claudio Del Percio,Maria Teresa Pascarelli,Roberta Lizio,Giuseppe Noce,Susanna Lopez,Marco Rizzo,Raffaele Ferri,Andrea Soricelli,Flavio Nobili,Dario Arnaldi,Francesco Famà,Francesco Orzi,Carla Buttinelli,Franco Giubilei,Marco Salvetti,Virginia Cipollini,Raffaella Franciotti,Marco Onofrj,Paola Stirpe,Peter Fuhr,Ute Gschwandtner,Gerhard Ransmayr,Dag Aarsland,Lucilla Parnetti,Lucia Farotti,Moira Marizzoni,Fabrizia D'Antonio,Carlo de Lena,Bahar Güntekin,Lutfu Hanoglu,Görsev Yener,Derya Durusu Emek-Savaş,Antonio Ivano Triggiani,John-Paul Taylor,Ian G. McKeith,Fabrizio Stocchi,Laura Vacca,H. Hampel,Giovanni B. Frisoni,Maria Francesca De Pandis,Laura Bonanni +41 more
TL;DR: Findings disclose similar abnormalities in ADMCI and DLBMCI patients as revealed by alpha source connectivity, which can be speculated that source connectivity mostly reflects common cholinergic impairment in prodromal state of both AD andDLB, before a substantial dopaminergic derangement in the dementia stage of DLB.
