Meta-analyses identify 13 loci associated with age at menopause and highlight DNA repair and immune pathways

Lisette Stolk, +198 more
- 01 Mar 2012 -
TL;DR: A meta-analysis of 22 genome-wide association studies in 38,968 women of European descent identified 13 loci newly associated with age at natural menopause, including genes implicated in DNA repair, immune function and immune function.

Meta-analyses identify 13 loci associated with age at menopause and highlight DNA repair and immune pathways

Lisette Stolk, +179 more
TL;DR: A meta-analysis of genome-wide association studies in 38,968 women of European descent identified 13 loci newly associated with age at natural menopause, and candidate genes located at these newly associated loci include genes implicated in DNA repair and immune function.
Journal ArticleDOI

High-Resolution Phylogenetic Analysis of Southeastern Europe Traces Major Episodes of Paternal Gene Flow Among Slavic Populations

TL;DR: The extent and nature of southeastern Europe (SEE) paternal genetic contribution to the European genetic landscape were explored based on a high-resolution Y chromosome analysis involving 681 males from seven populations in the region, finding that five major haplogroups comprise more than 70% of SEE total genetic variation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Y chromosomal heritage of Croatian population and its island isolates

TL;DR: High frequency of haplogroup I in Croatian populations and the phylogeographic pattern in its background STR diversity over Europe make Adriatic coast one likely source of the recolonization of Europe following the Last Glacial Maximum.
