Gender and telomere length : systematic review and meta-analysis

Michael P. Gardner, +53 more
TL;DR: Telomere length is longer in females than males, although this difference was not universally found in studies that did not use Southern blot methods, and further research on explanations for the methodological differences is required.
Journal ArticleDOI

Genome-wide association analysis identifies new lung cancer susceptibility loci in never-smoking women in Asia.

Qing Lan, +133 more
- 01 Dec 2012 -
TL;DR: It is observed that there is no evidence of association for lung cancer at 15q25 in never-smoking women in Asia, providing strong evidence that this locus is not associated with lung cancer independent of smoking.
Journal ArticleDOI

The 5p15.33 Locus Is Associated with Risk of Lung Adenocarcinoma in Never-Smoking Females in Asia

Chao A. Hsiung, +81 more
- 05 Aug 2010 -
TL;DR: Results show that genetic variation in the CLPTM1L-TERT locus of chromosome 5p15.33 is directly associated with the risk of lung cancer, most notably adenocarcinoma.

Polymorphism of the DNA Repair Gene XRCC1 and Risk of Primary Lung Cancer

TL;DR: XRCC1 codon 399 polymorphism may be an important genetic determinant of squamous cell carcinoma of the lung in persons with lower degrees of cigarette use, and this results suggest that the risk for the disease increased as the number of Gln alleles increased.
