Effect of cryopreservation medium conditions on growth and isolation of gut anaerobes from human faecal samples
Anaïs Biclot,Geert Huys,Rodrigo Bacigalupe,Kevin D'hoe,Doris Vandeputte,Gwen Falony,Raul Y. Tito,Jeroen Raes +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper , faecal samples from eleven healthy human volunteers selected based on a range of physicochemical and microbiological gradients were cryopreserved at − 80 °C either without the addition of any medium (dry condition) or in different Cary-Blair medium conditions with or without a cryoprotectant.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: The Genomic Standards Consortium's (GSC) Minimum Information about an ENvironmental Sequence (MIENS) standard for describing marker genes as discussed by the authors has been adopted for gene annotation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Fat and not sugar as the determining factor for gut microbiota changes, obesity and related metabolic disorders in mice.
Francesco Suriano,Sara Vieira-Silva,Gwen Falony,Alice de Wouters d’Oplinter,Paola Paone,Nathalie M. Delzenne,Amandine Everard,Jeroen Raes,Matthias Van Hul,Patrice D. Cani +9 more
TL;DR: In this article , the effect of specific diets, with a different content in sugar and fat, in promoting obesity and related comorbidities as well as their impact on microbial load and gut microbiota composition/diversity was investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI

The gut microbiota contributes to the pathogenesis of anorexia nervosa in humans and mice
Yong Fan,René Klinkby Støving,Samar Berreira Ibraim,Tuulia Hyötyläinen,F. M. Thirion,Tulika Arora,Liwei Lyu,E. Stankevic,T. Hansen,Pierre Déchelotte,Tim Sinioja,Oddny Ragnarsdottir,Nicolas Pons,Nathalie Galleron,Benoit Quinquis,Florence Levenez,Hugo Roume,Gwen Falony,Sara Vieira-Silva,Jeroen Raes,Loa Clausen,Gry Kjærsdam Telléus,Fredrik Bäckhed,Matej Orešič,S. Dusko Ehrlich,Oluf Pedersen +25 more
TL;DR: In this article , the authors investigated whether a disrupted gut microbiota contributes to anorexia nervosa (AN) pathogenesis and found that the reduced weight gain and induced hypothalamic and adipose tissue gene expression were related to aberrant energy metabolism and eating behaviour.
