Journal ArticleDOI

Changes in the lipid composition of developing wheat seeds

TL;DR: The changes in total fatty acids were characterized by a decrease in linolenate and an increase in linoleate, the major fatty acid of the mature wheat grain.
Book ChapterDOI

Major lipid types in plants and micro-organisms

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors considered quantitatively the importance of a few types of fatty acids and found that most of them are even-chain saturated or unsaturated monocarboxylic acids.
Journal ArticleDOI

A new class of herbicide which inhibits acetyl-CoA carboxylase in sensitive plant species

TL;DR: Experiments showed clearly that PP600 inhibited de novo fatty acid synthesis at the level of acetyl-CoA carboxylase, suggesting that it may be metabolised to a more active compound in sensitive grass species.
Journal ArticleDOI

The effects of elevated atmospheric CO2 on lipid metabolism in leaves from mature wheat (Triticum aestivum cv. Hereward) plants

TL;DR: Increased CO 2 concentrations did not significantly affect the total incorporation of radiolabel into lipids of whole leaf tissue, but altered the distribution for individual lipid classes, implying a change in the apportioning of newly synthesized fatty acids between the 'eukaryotic" and 'prokaryotic' pathways of metabolism under elevated CO 2.
