Nuno Queiroz, +166 more
- 22 Aug 2019 -
TL;DR: It is concluded that pelagic sharks have limited spatial refuge from current levels of fishing effort in marine areas beyond national jurisdictions (the high seas), demonstrating an urgent need for conservation and management measures at high-seas hotspots of shark space use.
Journal ArticleDOI

Whole-Genome Sequencing for National Surveillance of Shiga Toxin–Producing Escherichia coli O157

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used whole-genome sequencing (WGS) as a tool to inform national surveillance of Escherichia coli O157 (STEC O157) in terms of identifying linked cases and clusters and guiding epidemiological investigation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Strengthening the Reporting of Molecular Epidemiology for Infectious Diseases (STROME-ID): an extension of the STROBE statement

TL;DR: The STROME-ID statement focuses on issues relating to the reporting of epidemiological studies of infectious diseases using molecular data that were not addressed by STROBE and addresses terminology, measures of genetic diversity within pathogen populations, laboratory methods, sample collection, and use of molecular markers.
Journal ArticleDOI

Capsid protein diversity among Norwalk-like viruses.

TL;DR: The complete capsid gene sequence of 20 Norwalk-like viruses collected predominantly from outbreaks in the UK between 1989 and 1996 was determined, with sequence divergence between strains was greatest within the central variable region.
