Journal ArticleDOI

Where are the most ancient stars in the Milky Way

TL;DR: Fire cosmological zoom-in simulations of three MW-mass disc galaxies are used to study the spatial distribution, chemistry, and kinematics of the oldest surviving stars in MW-like galaxies, predicting the oldest stars to be less centrally concentrated at z = 0 than stars formed at later times.
Journal ArticleDOI

Nearby supernova host galaxies from the CALIFA Survey - I. Sample, data analysis, and correlation to star-forming regions

TL;DR: In this article, optical integral field spectroscopy (IFS) of nearby supernova (SN) host galaxies (0.04, 2.01, and 97.95% in these intervals) was used to estimate that the low-mass galaxies produce ten times fewer SNe Ia and three times fewer CC SNe than the high-mass group.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Cosmic History of the Spin of Dark Matter Halos within the Large-scale Structure

TL;DR: In this article, the authors used N-body simulations to investigate the evolution of the orientation and magnitude of dark matter halo angular momentum within the large-scale structure since z = 3.
