Galaxy and mass assembly (GAMA): The consistency of GAMA and WISE derived mass-to-light ratios
Tom Kettlety,Jane Hesling,Steven Phillipps,Malcolm N. Bremer,Michelle E. Cluver,Edward N. Taylor,Joss Bland-Hawthorn,Sarah Brough,R. De Propris,Simon P. Driver,Simon P. Driver,Benne W. Holwerda,Lee S. Kelvin,William J. Sutherland,A. H. Wright +14 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the spectral energy distribution (SED) model was used to estimate the mass to light ratios of stellar populations and hence the stellar masses of galaxies, and the SED derived masses for a carefully selected sample of low redshift galaxies were compared with the prediction from stellar population synthesis models that $M_*/L ǫ = 0.15$ for all such galaxies, independent of other stellar population parameters.
Journal ArticleDOI
The CALIFA view on stellar angular momentum across the Hubble sequence

Rosales-Ortega,Tomás Ruiz-Lara,Tomás Ruiz-Lara,Lutz Wisotzki,Bodo L. Ziegler +40 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the apparent stellar angular momentum of 300 galaxies across the Hubble sequence, using integral-field spectroscopic data from the CALIFA survey, was measured in different apertures.

Stacy S. McGaugh,Federico Lelli,Marcel S. Pawlowski,Garry W. Angus,Olivier Bienaymé,Joss Bland-Hawthorn,Erwin de Blok,Benoit Famaey,Filippo Fraternali,Kenneth C. Freeman,Gianfranco Gentile,Rodrigo A. Ibata,Pavel Kroupa,Fabian Lüghausen,Paul J. McMillan,David Merritt,Ivan Minchev,Giacomo Monari,Elena D'Onghia,Alice C. Quillen,Bob Sanders,J. A. Sellwood,Arnaud Siebert,HongSheng Zhao +23 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a brief rebuttal to arXiv:1502.03821, which claims to provide the first observational proof of dark matter interior to the solar circle, is presented.
Journal ArticleDOI
In search of cool flow accretion onto galaxies $-$ where does the disk gas end?
TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that a clumpy outer disk of dense clouds or cloudlets is potentially detectable to much larger radii and lower HI column densities than previously discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Lara-López,Iván Oteo Gómez,Iván Oteo Gómez,Carmen P. Padilla Torres,Irene Pintos-Castro,Mirjana Pović,Miguel Sánchez-Portal,D. Heath Jones,Joss Bland-Hawthorn,Antonio Cabrera-Lavers +28 more
TL;DR: The OTELO survey as mentioned in this paper is the most comprehensive survey to date in terms of minimum detectable flux and emission line equivalent width in order to detect the faintest extragalactic emission line systems.
