The 2dF Galaxy Redshift Survey: The bias of galaxies and the density of the Universe
Licia Verde,Alan Heavens,Will J. Percival,Sabino Matarrese,Carlton M. Baugh,Joss Bland-Hawthorn,T. Bridges,R. D. Cannon,Shaun Cole,Matthew Colless,Chris A. Collins,Warrick J. Couch,Gavin Dalton,R. De Propris,Simon P. Driver,George Efstathiou,Richard S. Ellis,Carlos S. Frenk,Karl Glazebrook,Carole Jackson,Ofer Lahav,Ian Lewis,Stuart Lumsden,Steve Maddox,Darren Madgwick,Peder Norberg,John A. Peacock,Bruce A. Peterson,William J. Sutherland,Keith Taylor +29 more
TL;DR: In this article, the bias parameter of the 2dFGRS data set was used to measure the strength of clustering of the galaxies relative to the mass in the universe, and it was shown that optically selected galaxies do indeed trace the underlying mass distribution.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: In this article, the stellar atmospheric parameters (effective temperature, surface gravity, overall metallicity), radial velocities, individual abundances, and distances determined for 425,561 stars, which constitute the fourth public data release of the RAdial Velocity Experiment (RAVE).
Journal ArticleDOI
Galaxy And Mass Assembly (GAMA): the galaxy stellar mass function at z < 0.06
Ivan K. Baldry,Simon P. Driver,Simon P. Driver,Jon Loveday,Edward N. Taylor,Edward N. Taylor,Lee S. Kelvin,Lee S. Kelvin,Jochen Liske,Peder Norberg,Aaron S. G. Robotham,Aaron S. G. Croom,David Heath Jones,H Parkinson,Cristina Popescu,Matthew Prescott,Rob Sharp,Richard J. Tuffs +24 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the low-redshift field galaxy stellar mass function (GSMF) was determined from a sample of 5210 galaxies using a density-corrected maximum volume method.
Journal ArticleDOI
The 2dF Galaxy Redshift Survey: the dependence of galaxy clustering on luminosity and spectral type
Peder Norberg,Carlton M. Baugh,Ed Hawkins,Stephen J. Maddox,Darren Madgwick,Ofer Lahav,Shaun Cole,Carlos S. Frenk,Ivan K. Baldry,Joss Bland-Hawthorn,Terry J. Bridges,Russell D. Ellis,Karl Glazebrook,Carole Jackson,Ian Lewis,Stuart Lumsden,John A. Peacock,Bruce A. Peterson,William J. Sutherland,William J. Sutherland,Keith Taylor +28 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the dependence of galaxy clustering on luminosity and spectral type using the 2dF Galaxy Redshift Survey (2dFGRS) was investigated using the principal-component analysis of Madgwick et al.
Journal ArticleDOI
