CALIFA, the Calar Alto Legacy Integral Field Area survey: I. Survey presentation

Sebastián F. Sánchez, +84 more
TL;DR: The Calar Alto Legacy Integral Field Area (CALIFA) survey as mentioned in this paper was designed to provide a first step in this direction, obtaining spatially resolved spectroscopic information of a diameter selected sample of galaxies in the Local Universe (0.005 < z < 0.03).
Journal ArticleDOI

A Search for Very Extended Ionized Gas in Nearby Starburst and Active Galaxies

TL;DR: In this article, the authors report results from a pilot study of 10 nearby starburst and active galaxies conducted with the Taurus Tunable Filter (TTF) on the Anglo-Australian and William Herschel telescopes.
Journal ArticleDOI

The 2dF Galaxy Redshift Survey: the blue galaxy fraction and implications for the Butcher—Oemler effect

TL;DR: In this article, the authors derived the fraction of blue galaxies in a sample of clusters at z < 0.11 and the general field at the same redshift and showed that the value of the blue fraction is observed to depend on the luminosity limit adopted, cluster-centric radius and, more generally, local galaxy density, but does not depend on cluster properties.
Journal ArticleDOI

A Wide-Field Survey of the Fornax Dwarf Spheroidal Galaxy

TL;DR: The results of a photometric survey of the Fornax dwarf spheroidal galaxy are presented in this article, where accurate photometry in two colors (V and I) was collected over a 10 deg2 area centered on the Fornas system with the aim of searching for extratidal structure.
