Biological properties of extracellular vesicles and their physiological functions

María Yáñez-Mó, +72 more
TL;DR: A comprehensive overview of the current understanding of the physiological roles of EVs is provided, drawing on the unique EV expertise of academia-based scientists, clinicians and industry based in 27 European countries, the United States and Australia.
Journal ArticleDOI

Evidence-Based Clinical Use of Nanoscale Extracellular Vesicles in Nanomedicine

TL;DR: The high potential of nanosized EVs for both diagnostic and therapeutic areas of nanomedicine, as demonstrated by the European Network on Microvesicles and Exosomes in Health and Disease (ME-HAD), is demonstrated.
Journal ArticleDOI

CD24, a Mucin-Type Glycoprotein, Is a Ligand for P-Selectin on Human Tumor Cells

TL;DR: It is reported that CD24, a mucin-type glycosylphosphatidylinositol-linked cell surface molecule on human neutrophils, pre B lymphocytes, and many tumors can promote binding to P-selectin, and the role of CD24 is established as a novel ligand for P- selectin on tumor cells.
Journal ArticleDOI

Tumour biological aspects of CD24, a mucin-like adhesion molecule.

TL;DR: With the exception of pancreatic cancer, high rates of CD24 are significantly associated with a more aggressive course of the disease, a finding that remains significant in a multivariate analysis.
Journal ArticleDOI

A novel approach to first‐trimester screening for early pre‐eclampsia combining serum PP‐13 and Doppler ultrasound

TL;DR: The value of maternal serum placental protein 13 measurement and uterine artery Doppler during first‐trimester screening in the prediction of early pre‐eclampsia is investigated.
