Soil nematode abundance and functional group composition at a global scale

Johan van den Hoogen, +70 more
- 24 Jul 2019 -
TL;DR: High-resolution spatial maps of the global abundance of soil nematodes and the composition of functional groups show that soil nematode are found in higher abundances in sub-Arctic regions, than in temperate or tropical regions.
Journal ArticleDOI

New live screening of plant-nematode interactions in the rhizosphere.

TL;DR: This work has developed new live assays for testing nematode responses to treatment by combining transparent soil microcosms, a new light sheet imaging technique termed Biospeckle Selective Plane Illumination Microscopy (BSPIM) for fast nematodes detection, and Confocal Laser Scanning microscopy for high resolution imaging.
Journal ArticleDOI

Spatial variability of soil total C and N and their stable isotopes in an upland Scottish grassland

TL;DR: In this article, the spatial variability of three soil properties (total N, total C and pH) and two stable isotopes (δ13C and δ15N of whole soil) were quantified using geostatistical approaches in upland pastures under contrasting management regimes (grazed, fertilised and ungrazing, unfertilised) in Scotland.
Journal ArticleDOI

Nematode community and trophic structure along a sand dune succession

TL;DR: Assessment of nematode diversity using both univariate and multivariate analysis produced contradictory results, with a trend was apparent of increasing numbers of omnivorous nematodes along the succession in relation to increasing organic matter and/or litter accumulation.
