Differential Lipid Partitioning Between Adipocytes and Tissue Macrophages Modulates Macrophage Lipotoxicity and M2/M1 Polarization in Obese Mice

TL;DR: The data indicate that the M1 ATM polarization in obesity might be a macrophage-specific manifestation of a more general lipotoxic pathogenic mechanism and indicates that strategies to optimize fat deposition and repartitioning toward adipocytes might improve insulin sensitivity by preventing ATM lipotoxicity and M1 polarization.
Journal ArticleDOI

Genetic variation near IRS1 associates with reduced adiposity and an impaired metabolic profile.

Tuomas O. Kilpeläinen, +134 more
- 01 Aug 2011 -
TL;DR: In this paper, a meta-analysis of associations between similar to 2.5 million SNPs and body fat percentage from 36,626 individuals and followed up the 14 most significant independent loci in 39,576 individuals.
Journal ArticleDOI

Associations between body-mass index and COVID-19 severity in 6·9 million people in England: a prospective, community-based, cohort study.

TL;DR: In this paper, a prospective, community-based, cohort study was conducted to examine the association between obesity and adverse outcomes after infection with SARS-CoV-2, including interactions with demographic and behavioural characteristics, type 2 diabetes, and other health conditions.
