The tomato genome sequence provides insights into fleshy fruit evolution

Shusei Sato, +323 more
- 31 May 2012 -
TL;DR: A high-quality genome sequence of domesticated tomato is presented, a draft sequence of its closest wild relative, Solanum pimpinellifolium, is compared, and the two tomato genomes are compared to each other and to the potato genome.
Journal ArticleDOI

Over-expression of microRNA169 confers enhanced drought tolerance to tomato.

TL;DR: This study is the first to provide evidence that the Sly-miR169c negatively regulates stomatal movement in tomato drought responses, and demonstrates howutive over-expression of a miR169 family member in tomato plant can efficiently down-regulate the transcripts of the target genes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Identification of early salt stress response genes in tomato root by suppression subtractive hybridization and microarray analysis

TL;DR: In this paper, suppression subtractive hybridization (SSH) and microarray approaches were combined to identify the potential important or novel genes involved in the early stage of tomato responses to severe salt stress.
Journal ArticleDOI

Overexpression of SlGMEs leads to ascorbate accumulation with enhanced oxidative stress, cold, and salt tolerance in tomato

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that the overexpression of two members of the GME gene family resulted in increased ascorbate accumulation in tomato and improved tolerance to abiotic stresses.
