TL;DR: The gene amplification and overexpression of c- myc plays an important role in the tumorigenesis and development of OSCC and there is certain internal relationship between p16 and c-myc expression in OSCC.
Abstract: BACKGROUND & OBJECTIVE The study on the protein expression of c-myc and p16 in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) has been reported, and a few researches involved in their gene amplification and mRNA expression in OSCC, however, the synergism of c-myc and p16 in OSCC in multiple levels is still unclear. This study aims to probe the synergism of c-myc and p16 in OSCC in gene amplification, mRNA expression, and protein expression levels. METHODS The gene amplification, expression of mRNA, and protein of c-myc and p16 in 30 cases of OSCC were determined by in situ hybridization and immunohistochemical techniques. RESULTS The amplification rate of c-myc was 63.3%, but no amplification of p16 was found in OSCC. The mRNA expression rates of c-myc and p16 were 83.3% and 93.3%, and their protein expression rates were 60.0% and 86.7%, respectively. The correlation analysis showed that there was significant correlativity between p16 and c-myc both in mRNA expression (r=0.676 5, P=4.055 6E-05) and in protein expression (r=0.564 2, P=0.001 2). CONCLUSION The gene amplification and overexpression of c-myc plays an important role in the tumorigenesis and development of OSCC. There is certain internal relationship between p16 and c-myc expression in OSCC.

TL;DR: The expressions of Skp2 and PTEN may play an important roles in the tumorigenesis, metastases and poor prognosis of glottic carcinoma and these changes may be the early molecular event of the carcinogenesis.
Abstract: OBJECTIVE To investigate the expression and clinical significance of Skp2 and PTEN in glottic carcinoma and the relationship between the two genes. METHOD Formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded tissues, which came from 42 cases of glottic carcinoma and 16 cases of atypical hyperplasia of vocal fold and 27 cases of vocal cord polyp, were detected for the expression of Skp2, PTEN by SP immunohistochemistry, then we analyzed the result statistically. RESULT The expression rates of Skp2 protein in vocal cord polyp, atypical hyperplasia of vocal cord and glottic carcinoma were 11.11%, 37.50%, 40.48% respectively. There was significant difference among them (P < 0.01); the expression rates of PTEN protein in vocal cord polyp, atypical hyperplasia of vocal cord and glottic carcinoma were 100.00%, 75.00%, 52.38% respectively. There was significant difference among them (P < 0.05), the expressions of Skp2 and PTEN in glottic carcinoma were associated with clinical stage, lymph nodal metastases and prognosis (P < 0.05); there was a negative correlation between the expression of Skp2 and PTEN, and their correlation coefficient was r= -0.4301 (P < 0.01). CONCLUSION The expressions of Skp2 and PTEN may play an important roles in the tumorigenesis, metastases and poor prognosis of glottic carcinoma. These changes may be the early molecular event of the carcinogenesis. The high expression of Skp2 was negative correlation with the lower PTEN in glottic carcinoma.

TL;DR: The expressions of IL-25 and IL-33 are elevated in peripheral blood of patients with chronic urticaria, and positively correlated with the severity of uricaria.
Abstract: Objective To detect the expression levels of interleukin (IL)-25 and IL-33 in peripheral blood of patients with chronic urticaria. Methods Ninety-three patients with chronic urticaria were included in this study along with 30 healthy individuals. All the patients were treated with loratadine for four weeks.Blood samples were collected from the healthy controls and patients before and after the four-week treatment.Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was performed to detect the serum levels of IL-25 and IL-33.The relationship between the expression levels of the two cytokines and urticaria severity was analyzed. Results The serum levels of IL-25 and IL-33 in the patients before treatment were significantly higher than those in the healthy controls (IL-25,139.86 ± 28.48 vs.114.41 ± 34.00 ng/L,P < 0.01; IL-33,91.95 ± 21.88 vs.79.80 ± 30.72 ng/L,P < 0.05),and positively correlated with the severity of urticaria (r =0.38,0.42,respectively,both P < 0.01).After four weeks of treatment, clinical improvement was observed in 81.72% of these patients with a significant decrease in the serum IL-25 level (116.48 ± 21.94 vs.139.86 ± 28.48 ng/L,P < 0.01),but no obvious changes in the serum IL-33 level (90.88 ± 20.62 vs.91.95 ± 21.88 ng/L,P > 0.05) compared with those before treatment. Conclusions The expressions of IL-25 and IL-33 are elevated in peripheral blood of patients with chronic urticaria, and positively correlated with the severity of urticaria. Abstract: The future library is a compound of traditional library and virtual library and the "third space" of a city in which the information technology will be widely applied and popularized and its layout will be more suitable for the study habits of readers. The future library will become a leisure and culture center of multimedia.Popularizing activities, social media, digital circulation and digital reference are the 4 factors that influence the development of library. Thus, importance should be attached to the value of library as the " third space" of a city, the construction of human resource, the popularization and use of new technologies in order to speed up the healthy development of librarianship and meet the challenge of new technologies.

TL;DR: Wang et al. as discussed by the authors explored the relationship between childhood maltreatment and extreme risk behaviors among college students, in order to provide a basis for prevention and intervention of college students' risk behavior.
Abstract: Objective To explore the relationship between childhood maltreatment and extreme risk behaviors among college students,in order to provide a basis for prevention and intervention of college students' risk behavior. Methods A total of1 000 college students from the four universities were selected with cluster sampling in Yantai city and childhood maltreatment experience and risk behaviors were surveyed with childhood abuse questionnaire( CTQ-SF),self-rating depression scale( SDS),suicidal ideation scale( BSSI) and a self-designed questionnaire. Results The detection rate of childhood maltreatment was 11. 1% in1 000 college students. The main types of childhood abuse was emotional abuse( 97. 2%) and emotional neglect( 74. 7%). By means of Contour analysis,we find that the higher the degree of depression, the higher the score five different types of abuse( F =790.5,P0.05). The childhood maltreatment were significantly positively correlated with the suicidal ideation, depression, drug abuse, and self-destructive behavior( r = 0.120,0.129,0.101,0.110,P 0.05). Conclusion It suggests that childhood maltreatment may be an important relevant factors related to risk behaviors of college students, and play an important significance in early prevention and intervention of risk behaviors.
