TL;DR: Analysis of new configurational bias Monte Carlo and molecular dynamics simulation data for bilayers of dipalmitoyl phosphatidyl choline and cholesterol shows a tendency for small subunits of one lipid plus one cholesterol, hydrogen bonded together, to act as one composite particle, and perhaps to aggregate with other composites.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors explain how investments in flexible, advanced manufacturing technologies (AMT) have special properties that can transform organization design and the economic bases of strategic flexibility, and how AMT investments can produce strategic options that allow the firm to place a 'call' on related markets that it may potentially enter.
Abstract: This paper explains how investments in flexible, advanced manufacturing tech nologies (AMT) have special properties that can transform organization design and the economic bases of strategic flexibility. Investments in AMT that pro vide significant economies of scope (i.e. low-volume/low-cost manufacturing) produce strategic options that allow the firm to place a 'call' on related markets that it may potentially enter. The value of AMT investments grow with the increasing changes in the environment. In addition, CAD/CAM networks, a vital component of most AMT systems, enable the firm to work selectively with external designers, suppliers, customers and other firms to rapidly com press the product development and commercialization process. Firms seeking to maximize economies of scope and the option value of AMT need to recon figure their organizations into loosely coupled systems with a modular, open systems perspective. Flexible AMT systems facilitate the pursuit of emergent, product-based strategies base...

TL;DR: Improvements in energy calibration limited variations between detectors to 0.2%.
Abstract: We report a new measurement of electron antineutrino disappearance using the fully constructed Daya Bay Reactor Neutrino Experiment. The final two of eight antineutrino detectors were installed in the summer of 2012. Including the 404 days of data collected from October 2012 to November 2013 resulted in a total exposure of 6.9×10^5 GW_(th) ton days, a 3.6 times increase over our previous results. Improvements in energy calibration limited variations between detectors to 0.2%. Removal of six ^(241)Am−^(13)C radioactive calibration sources reduced the background by a factor of 2 for the detectors in the experimental hall furthest from the reactors. Direct prediction of the antineutrino signal in the far detectors based on the measurements in the near detectors explicitly minimized the dependence of the measurement on models of reactor antineutrino emission. The uncertainties in our estimates of sin 2^2θ_(13) and |Δm^2_(ee)| were halved as a result of these improvements. An analysis of the relative antineutrino rates and energy spectra between detectors gave sin^2 2θ_(13)=0.084±0.005 and |Δm^2_(ee)|=(2.42±0.11)×10^(−3) eV^2 in the three-neutrino framework.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present an in-depth analysis of the drive dynamics during motoring and generating modes of operation, which are used to explain the control strategies in the context of the S/A application.
Abstract: Switched reluctance machines (SRMs) are considered as serious candidates for starter/alternator (S/A) systems in more electric cars. Robust performance in the presence of high temperature, safe operation, offering high efficiency, and a very long constant power region, along with a rugged structure contribute to their suitability for this high impact application. To enhance these qualities, we have developed key technologies including sensorless operation over the entire speed range and closed-loop torque and speed regulation. The present paper offers an in-depth analysis of the drive dynamics during motoring and generating modes of operation. These findings will be used to explain our control strategies in the context of the S/A application. Experimental and simulation results are also demonstrated to validate the practicality of our claims.

TL;DR: This paper presents an energy-efficient opportunistic routing strategy, denoted as EEOR, and extensive simulations in TOSSIM show that the protocol EEOR performs better than the well-known ExOR protocol in terms of the energy consumption, the packet loss ratio, and the average delivery delay.
Abstract: Opportunistic routing, has been shown to improve the network throughput, by allowing nodes that overhear the transmission and closer to the destination to participate in forwarding packets, i.e., in forwarder list. The nodes in forwarder list are prioritized and the lower priority forwarder will discard the packet if the packet has been forwarded by a higher priority forwarder. One challenging problem is to select and prioritize forwarder list such that a certain network performance is optimized. In this paper, we focus on selecting and prioritizing forwarder list to minimize energy consumption by all nodes. We study both cases where the transmission power of each node is fixed or dynamically adjustable. We present an energy-efficient opportunistic routing strategy, denoted as EEOR. Our extensive simulations in TOSSIM show that our protocol EEOR performs better than the well-known ExOR protocol (when adapted in sensor networks) in terms of the energy consumption, the packet loss ratio, and the average delivery delay.
