TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the geochemical characteristics of Desur-type basalt flows in the southern and southwestern part of Belgaum in Karnataka to understand their petrogenesis.
Abstract: Geochemical characteristics of Desur-type basalt flows in the southern and southwestern part of Belgaum in Karnataka, India have been investigated to understand their petrogenesis. The basalts are compact, hard, massive, and show characteristic microporphyritic textures with abundant well-twinned and un-twinned plagioclase phenocrysts and minor clinopyroxene set in a fine-grained groundmass consisting of plagioclase, clinopyroxene, glass and Fe-Ti oxides. Thin sections show sub-ophitic, intergranular and intersertal textures. The basalts are Fe-rich tholeiites (13.4–13.8 wt %), characterized by high TiO2 (3.64 to 3.94 wt %); moderate MgO contents (4.79 to 5.41 wt %), low K2O contents (<0.58 wt %) and low Mg# (42.4–45.9). They are enriched in large ion lithophile elements, moderately enriched in the light rare earths (chondrite-normalized LaN/YbN 3.37–4.24), and exhibit nearly flat heavy rare-earth patterns that lack significant Eu anomalies (Eu/Eu* 0.86–1.10). Primitive-mantle-normalized element patterns for these rocks show characteristic troughs at K and Sr, absence of a Nb anomaly, and a low Zr/Nb ratio (<15), which suggest insignificant contamination by many types of continental crust, whereas, enrichments in the large ion lithophiles, La, P and Th could suggest enriched source characteristics. Based on the geochemical characteristics of the basalts, it is inferred that the Desur basalts representing the youngest flows of the Deccan Basalt Group are derived by partial melting of a peridotite source, and subsequent fractionation gave rise to the compositions of the basalts that are found in the Belgaum region.

TL;DR: A hybrid approach is introduced to estimate the chlorophyll contents in the crops using hyperspectral image segmentation with active learning, which consists of using a sparse multinomial logistic regression model to learn the class posterior probability distributions with Quadratic Programming or joint probability distribution.
Abstract: The estimating the chlorophyll contents in the crops helps to identify the condition of crops and different classification of crops with soil characteristics in order to assist the farmer or others with agriculture growth. In this paper, a hybrid approach is introduced to estimate the Chlorophyll contents in the crops using hyperspectral image segmentation with active learning, which consists of two main steps. First, we use a sparse multinomial logistic regression (SMLR) model to learn the class posterior probability distributions with Quadratic Programming or joint probability distribution. Second, we use the information acquired in the previous step to segment the hyper spectral image using a Markov Random field segments to estimate the dependencies using spatial information and edge Information by minimum spanning forest rooted on markers. In order to reduce the cost of acquiring large training sets, PSO optimization is performed based on the SMLR posterior probabilities on the Normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI). The state-of-the-art performance of the proposed approach is illustrated using real hyper spectral data sets collected from the North Karnataka in a number of experimental comparisons with recently developed or statistical hyperspectral image analysis methods in terms of precision, recall and f—measure.

TL;DR: A group aware TV Program recommendation algorithm for multiple viewers of a digital TV that rates and selects TV programs based on group preferences is proposed.
Abstract: With the advent of ubiquitous computing environments it has become increasingly important for applications to take full advantage of Context aware computing to increase the satisfaction of the users in entertainment services The contextual information, such as, user location, user's profile, user interest, user role, user age, etc has to be considered to offer greater services to the user without any explicit requests and to resolve conflict among multiple user In this paper, we propose a group aware TV Program recommendation algorithm for multiple viewers of a digital TV that rates and selects TV programs based on group preferences The motto of this paper is to enable context aware applications to offer services to multiple users by resolving service conflicts among users if any and hence by increasing the satisfaction of the users

TL;DR: It is shown that transient ground faults can be detected by wavelet analysis of the line to line voltages when ship load is balanced and unbalanced.
Abstract: Modern spectral and harmonic analysis is based on Fourier transforms. However, these techniques are less efficient in tracking the signal dynamics for transient disturbances. Consequently, the wavelet transform has been introduced as an adaptable technique for non-stationary signal analysis. Although the application of wavelets in the area of power system engineering is still relatively new, it is evolving very rapidly. In this paper wavelet based method for detection of faults in an ungrounded integrated power system (IPS) of Navy ships is proposed. However the “Virtual ground” exists between the modules of IPS and ship hull, because of insulation capacitance of the cable and the EMI filters between the modules of the IPS. The fault current is very low for a single line to ground fault in this ungrounded system allowing continuous operation but also making fault detection difficult. The proposed method uses wavelets for detection of ground fault in ungrounded power system. The ground fault conditions are simulated using MATLAB-SIMULINK and fault detection implemented with Daubechies wavelets. It is shown that transient ground faults can be detected by wavelet analysis of the line to line voltages when ship load is balanced and unbalanced. Verification of the proposed method has been done by simulating fault between a line and ship hull and analyzing the results. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/ijece.v1i1.57

TL;DR: Morphological and textural studies of Kudle beach have been made at monthly intervals over a period of one year to understand its dynamics as discussed by the authors, which revealed that the beach shows cyclic changes in its morphology, i.e. erosion during the SW monsoon and accretion during the fair-weather season, followed by a secondary cycle of erosion during NE monsoon (December/January and January/February).
Abstract: Morphological and textural studies of Kudle beach have been made at monthly intervals over a period of one year to understand its dynamics. The studies have revealed that the beach shows cyclic changes in its morphology, i.e. erosion during the SW monsoon and accretion during the fair-weather season, followed by a secondary cycle of erosion during NE monsoon (December/January and January/February). The beach experienced a net gain of 321.45 m 3 /m of sediments during the study period (February 1993 to February 1994). The sediments are predominantly fine grained (90.71%), very well sorted (55.78%), positively skewed (37.29%) and leptokurtic (44.12%). C-M pattern revealed graded suspension sediments reflecting moderate turbulent conditions during deposition. Morphological and textural studies suggest that the sediment movement is predominantly due north along this beach.
