TL;DR: UP-DETR significantly boosts the performance of DETR with faster convergence and higher average precision on object detection, one-shot detection and panoptic segmentation.
Abstract: Object detection with transformers (DETR) reaches competitive performance with Faster R-CNN via a transformer encoder-decoder architecture. Inspired by the great success of pre-training transformers in natural language processing, we propose a pretext task named random query patch detection to unsupervisedly pre-train DETR (UP-DETR) for object detection. Specifically, we randomly crop patches from the given image and then feed them as queries to the decoder. The model is pre-trained to detect these query patches from the original image. During the pre-training, we address two critical issues: multi-task learning and multi-query localization. (1) To trade-off multi-task learning of classification and localization in the pretext task, we freeze the CNN backbone and propose a patch feature reconstruction branch which is jointly optimized with patch detection. (2) To perform multi-query localization, we introduce UP-DETR from single-query patch and extend it to multi-query patches with object query shuffle and attention mask. In our experiments, UP-DETR significantly boosts the performance of DETR with faster convergence and higher precision on PASCAL VOC and COCO datasets. The code will be available soon.

TL;DR: The performance of OFDM-IM is studied in terms of the achievable rate assuming an M-ary constellation and that channel state information is available at the receiver, and an interleaved grouping method is proposed for the use of subcarriers.
Abstract: Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing with index modulation (OFDM-IM) is a recently developed transmission technique that extends the principle of spatial modulation to OFDM subcarriers. In this paper, the performance of OFDM-IM is studied in terms of the achievable rate assuming an $M$ -ary constellation and that channel state information is available at the receiver. A closed-form lower bound is derived, based on which an interleaved grouping method is proposed for the use of subcarriers. In comparison with the existing grouping method, the proposed one can better benefit from the diversity effects over frequency-selective fading channels, especially when the spacing of any two subcarriers within a subcarrier group is larger than the coherence bandwidth. Through numerical results, it is revealed that OFDM-IM with interleaved grouping outperforms classical OFDM for small $M$ and certain ranges of signal-to-noise ratio. Finally, the effects of modulation types on the performance of OFDM-IM are studied. It is found that the superiority of OFDM-IM over classical OFDM is greater for phase-shift keying than for quadrature amplitude modulation.

TL;DR: A novel sulfur cathode integrating sulfur, flexible carbon cloth, and metal-organic framework (MOF)-derived N-doped carbon nanoarrays with embedded CoP (CC@CoP/C) is designed, providing a promising design strategy for high-energy-density Li-S batteries.
Abstract: Lithium-sulfur (Li-S) batteries have attracted much attention in the field of electrochemical energy storage due to their high energy density and low cost. However, the "shuttle effect" of the sulfur cathode, resulting in poor cyclic performance, is a big barrier for the development of Li-S batteries. Herein, a novel sulfur cathode integrating sulfur, flexible carbon cloth, and metal-organic framework (MOF)-derived N-doped carbon nanoarrays with embedded CoP (CC@CoP/C) is designed. These unique flexible nanoarrays with embedded polar CoP nanoparticles not only offer enough voids for volume expansion to maintain the structural stability during the electrochemical process, but also promote the physical encapsulation and chemical entrapment of all sulfur species. Such designed CC@CoP/C cathodes with synergistic confinement (physical adsorption and chemical interactions) for soluble intermediate lithium polysulfides possess high sulfur loadings (as high as 4.17 mg cm-2 ) and exhibit large specific capacities at different C-rates. Specially, an outstanding long-term cycling performance can be reached. For example, an ultralow decay of 0.016% per cycle during the whole 600 cycles at a high current density of 2C is displayed. The current work provides a promising design strategy for high-energy-density Li-S batteries.

TL;DR: A promising candidate of a white light emitting X2-type Y2SiO5:Eu(3+),Bi(3+) phosphor, which can be excitable by UV light and address the problems of thermal instability, color aging or re- absorption by commixed phosphors in the coating of the devices.
Abstract: So far, more than 1000 UV converted phosphors have been reported for potential application in white light-emitting diodes (WLEDs), but most of them (e.g., Y2O2S:Eu, YAG:Ce or CaAlSiN3:Eu) suffer from intrinsic problems such as thermal instability, color aging or re-absorption by commixed phosphors in the coating of the devices. In this case, it becomes significant to search a single-phased phosphor, which can efficiently convert UV light to white lights. Herein, we report a promising candidate of a white light emitting X2-type Y2SiO5:Eu3+,Bi3+ phosphor, which can be excitable by UV light and address the problems mentioned above. Single Bi3+-doped X2-type Y2SiO5 exhibits three discernible emission peaks at ∼355, ∼408, and ∼504 nm, respectively, upon UV excitation due to three types of bismuth emission centers, and their relative intensity depends tightly on the incident excitation wavelength. In this regard, proper selection of excitation wavelength can lead to tunable emissions of Y2SiO5:Bi3+ between blue...

TL;DR: In this article, a polyvinyl acetate intercalated graphite oxide nanocomposite was prepared by an in situ intercalative polymerization reaction, in which an n-octanol-graphite oxide intercalation compound was first obtained, and then the vinyl acetate monomer was then dispersed into the interlayer of the modified graphite oxide, followed by thermally polymerizing the monomer.
Abstract: Graphite oxide, a pseudo-two-dimensional solid in bulk form, was synthesized from natural graphite powder by graphite oxidation with KMnO4 in concentrated H2SO4. Poly(vinyl acetate) intercalated graphite oxide nanocomposite was prepared by an in situ intercalative polymerization reaction, in which an n-octanol–graphite oxide intercalation compound was first obtained, vinyl acetate monomer was then dispersed into the interlayer of the modified graphite oxide, followed by thermally polymerizing the monomer. It was experimentally shown that the c-axis spacing increased to 1.152 nm when poly(vinyl acetate) was intercalated into the interlayer space of the graphite oxide. Thermal analysis and FT-IR spectrometry were also used to characterize the nanocomposite. The extractability of the intercalated poly(vinyl acetate) and the electrical properties of the nanocomposite were evaluated.
