TL;DR: In this paper, both anode and cathode interfaces of p-i-n CH3NH3PbI3 perovskite solar cells are simultaneously modified to achieve large open-circuit voltage (Voc) and fill factor (FF) for high performance semitransparent PVSCs (ST-PVSCs).
Abstract: In this work, both anode and cathode interfaces of p-i-n CH3NH3PbI3 perovskite solar cells (PVSCs) are simultaneously modified to achieve large open-circuit voltage (Voc) and fill factor (FF) for high performance semitransparent PVSCs (ST-PVSCs). At the anode, modified NiO serves as an efficient hole transport layer with appropriate surface property to promote the formation of smooth perovskite film with high coverage. At the cathode, a fullerene bisadduct, C60(CH2)(Ind), with a shallow lowest unoccupied molecular orbital level, is introduced to replace the commonly used phenyl-C61-butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM) as an alternative electron transport layer in PVSCs for better energy level matching with the conduction band of the perovskite layer. Therefore, the Voc, FF and power conversion efficiency (PCE) of the PVSCs increase from 1.05 V, 0.74 and 16.2% to 1.13 V, 0.80 and 18.1% when the PCBM is replaced by C60(CH2)(Ind). With the advantages of high Voc and FF, ST-PVSCs are also fabricated using an ultrathin transparent Ag as cathode, showing an encouraging PCEs of 12.6% with corresponding average visible transmittance (AVT) over 20%. These are the highest PCEs reported for ST-PVSCs with similar AVTs paving the way for using ST-PVSCs as power generating windows.

TL;DR: Study of the structure-property relationship shows that the varied steric and conjugation effects imposed by ester substituent at different positions are responsible for the small ΔEST and pure ππ* configuration of T1 .
Abstract: Pure organic materials with ultralong room-temperature phosphorescence (RTP) are attractive alternatives to inorganic phosphors. However, they generally show inefficient intersystem crossing (ISC) owing to weak spin-orbit coupling (SOC). A design principle based on the realization of small energy gap between the lowest singlet and triplet states (ΔEST ) and pure ππ* configuration of the lowest triplet state (T1 ) via structural isomerism was used to obtain efficient and ultralong RTP materials. The meta isomer of carbazole-substituted methyl benzoate exhibits an ultralong lifetime of 795.0 ms with a quantum yield of 2.1 %. Study of the structure-property relationship shows that the varied steric and conjugation effects imposed by ester substituent at different positions are responsible for the small ΔEST and pure ππ* configuration of T1 .

TL;DR: A brain-controlled intelligent wheelchair with the capability of automatic navigation and the mental burden of the user can be substantially alleviated.
Abstract: The concept of controlling a wheelchair using brain signals is promising. However, the continuous control of a wheelchair based on unstable and noisy electroencephalogram signals is unreliable and generates a significant mental burden for the user. A feasible solution is to integrate a brain–computer interface (BCI) with automated navigation techniques. This paper presents a brain-controlled intelligent wheelchair with the capability of automatic navigation. Using an autonomous navigation system, candidate destinations and waypoints are automatically generated based on the existing environment. The user selects a destination using a motor imagery (MI)-based or P300-based BCI. According to the determined destination, the navigation system plans a short and safe path and navigates the wheelchair to the destination. During the movement of the wheelchair, the user can issue a stop command with the BCI. Using our system, the mental burden of the user can be substantially alleviated. Furthermore, our system can adapt to changes in the environment. Two experiments based on MI and P300 were conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness of our system.

TL;DR: This problem is investigated based on n-way algebraic theory and a simple, yet efficient, detection method is proposed by eigenvalue decomposition (EVD), which is easy to implement and demonstrated by the experiments on both simulated and real-world data sets.
Abstract: Recently, there has been a growing interest in multiway probabilistic clustering. Some efficient algorithms have been developed for this problem. However, not much attention has been paid on how to detect the number of clusters for the general n-way clustering (n ≥ 2). To fill this gap, this problem is investigated based on n-way algebraic theory in this paper. A simple, yet efficient, detection method is proposed by eigenvalue decomposition (EVD), which is easy to implement. We justify this method. In addition, its effectiveness is demonstrated by the experiments on both simulated and real-world data sets.
