TL;DR: A predictor called pSumo-CD was developed by incorporating the sequence-coupled information into the general pseudo-amino acid composition (PseAAC) and introducing the covariance discriminant (CD) algorithm, in which a bias-adjustment term, which has the function to automatically adjust the errors caused by the bias due to the imbalance of training data, had been incorporated.
Abstract: Motivation Sumoylation is a post-translational modification (PTM) process, in which small ubiquitin-related modifier (SUMO) is attaching by covalent bonds to substrate protein. It is critical to many different biological processes such as replicating genome, expressing gene, localizing and stabilizing proteins; unfortunately, it is also involved with many major disorders including Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases. Therefore, for both basic research and drug development, it is important to identify the sumoylation sites in proteins. Results To address such a problem, we developed a predictor called pSumo-CD by incorporating the sequence-coupled information into the general pseudo-amino acid composition (PseAAC) and introducing the covariance discriminant (CD) algorithm, in which a bias-adjustment term, which has the function to automatically adjust the errors caused by the bias due to the imbalance of training data, had been incorporated. Rigorous cross-validations indicated that the new predictor remarkably outperformed the existing state-of-the-art prediction method for the same purpose. Availability and implementation For the convenience of most experimental scientists, a user-friendly web-server for pSumo-CD has been established at http://www.jci-bioinfo.cn/pSumo-CD, by which users can easily obtain their desired results without the need to go through the complicated mathematical equations involved. TL;DR: In this article, a delay-dependent robust stability criterion for Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy systems with time-varying delays and parameter uncertainties is given in terms of linear matrix inequalities by using the Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional method and by applying a generalised Park's inequality for bounding the cross-terms.
Abstract: The stability problem of Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy systems with time-varying delays and parameter uncertainties is considered. A delay-dependent robust stability criterion is given in terms of linear matrix inequalities by using the Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional method and by applying a generalised Park's inequality for bounding the cross-terms. Examples are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the result.

TL;DR: In this article, composite films of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) and polyaniline (PAn) were grown electrochemically from acidic aqueous solutions, such that the constituents were deposited simultaneously onto graphite electrodes.
Abstract: Nanoporous composite films of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) and polyaniline (PAn) were grown electrochemically from acidic aqueous solutions, such that the constituents were deposited simultaneously onto graphite electrodes. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) revealed that the composite films consisted of nanoporous networks of MWNTs coated with PAn. Cyclic voltammetry (CV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) demonstrated that these composite films had similar electrochemical response rates to pure PAn films, but a lower resistance and much improved mechanical integrity. The specific electrochemical capacitance of the composite films, per unit area of the original electrode, reached as high as 3.5 F cm−2, a significantly greater value than that of 2.3 F cm−2 for pure PAn films prepared similarly.
