TL;DR: A novel control scheme for some problems on tracking and obstacle avoidance of a wheeled mobile robot with nonholonomic constraint is presented and an extended state observer is introduced to estimate the unknown disturbances and velocity information of the wheeling mobile robot.
Abstract: This brief presents a novel control scheme for some problems on tracking and obstacle avoidance of a wheeled mobile robot with nonholonomic constraint. An extended state observer is introduced to estimate the unknown disturbances and velocity information of the wheeled mobile robot. A nonlinear controller is designed to achieve tracking target and obstacle avoidance in complex environments. Note that tracking errors converge to a residual set outside the obstacle detection region. Moreover, the obstacle avoidance is also guaranteed inside the obstacle detection region. Simulation results are given to verify the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed design scheme.

TL;DR: The low-dimensional nanowire is found to hold priority in the growth order, rather than the high-dimensional Nanosheet, thus effectively promoting the integration of these different NSs in the assembly of the NiCo2O4 MHSs.
Abstract: The design and development of nanomaterials has become central to the advancement of pseudocapacitive performance. Many one-dimensional nanostructures (1D NSs), two-dimensional nanostructures (2D NSs), and three-dimensional hierarchical structures (3D HSs) composed of these building blocks have been synthesized as pseudocapacitive materials via different methods. However, due to the unclear assembly mechanism of these NSs, reports of HSs simultaneously assembled from two or more types of NSs are rare. In this article, NiCo2O4 multiple hierarchical structures (MHSs) composed of 1D nanowires and 2D nanosheets are simply grown on Ni foam using an ordered two-step hydrothermal synthesis followed by annealing processing. The low-dimensional nanowire is found to hold priority in the growth order, rather than the high-dimensional nanosheet, thus effectively promoting the integration of these different NSs in the assembly of the NiCo2O4 MHSs. With vast electroactive surface area and favorable mesoporous architect...

TL;DR: In this article, a zone melting method is employed to prepare polycrystalline SnSe samples, which show highly textured structures and strong anisotropic thermoelectric performance.
Abstract: Tin selenide (SnSe) compound has attracted much attention due to its unprecedented high ZT (∼2.6) in single crystals. The polycrystalline SnSe materials were then prepared to improve the mechanical performance for large-scaled application. However, the ZT values of 0.3–0.8 were much lower due to their poor electrical properties. In the present study, the zone melting method is employed to prepare the polycrystalline SnSe samples, which show highly textured structures and strong anisotropic thermoelectric performance. A maximum power factor (S2σ) of 9.8 μW cm−1 K−2 was obtained in the polycrystalline samples, which is comparable with that of SnSe single crystals, resulting in a peak ZT of 0.92 at 873 K. The zone-melted ingot was then pulverized into powders and the bulk material was prepared by the spark plasma sintering (SPS) technique. As a result, the ZT value was enhanced to be over 1.0, owing to the slight reduction of lattice thermal conductivity and maintenance of electrical performance. The present investigation indicates that the TE performance of the SnSe compound can be significantly improved by the texture modulation.

TL;DR: This work reports the preparation of single pyrrolic N-doped carbon materials (SPNCMs) with a tunable nitrogen content from 0 to 4.22 at.% based on a strategy of low-temperature dehalogenation-induced and subsequent alkaline-activated pyrolysis of 3-halogenated phenol-3-aminophenol-formaldehyde (X-APF) co-condensed resins.
Abstract: Integrating nitrogen species into sp2-hybridized carbon materials has proved an efficient means to improve their electrochemical performance. Nevertheless, an inevitable mixture of nitrogen species in carbon materials, due to the uncontrolled conversion among different nitrogen configurations involved in synthesizing nitrogen-doped carbon materials, largely retards the precise identification of electrochemically active nitrogen configurations for specific reactions. Here, we report the preparation of single pyrrolic N-doped carbon materials (SPNCMs) with a tunable nitrogen content from 0 to 4.22 at.% based on a strategy of low-temperature dehalogenation-induced and subsequent alkaline-activated pyrolysis of 3-halogenated phenol-3-aminophenol-formaldehyde (X-APF) co-condensed resins. Additionally, considering that the pseudocapacitance of SPNCMs is positively dependent on the pyrrolic nitrogen content, it could be inferred that pyrrolic nitrogen species are highly active pseudocapacitive sites for nitrogen-doped carbon materials. This work gives an ideal model for understanding the contribution of pyrrolic nitrogen species in N-doped carbon materials. A mixture of nitrogen species in carbon materials typically hinders the precise identification of electrochemically active nitrogen configurations for specific reactions. Here the authors show single-site pyrrolic-nitrogen-doped sp2-hybridized carbon materials and their pseudocapacitive properties.
