Abstract
Ultrasonic guided wave inspection is expanding rapidly to many different areas of manufacturing and in-service inspection. The purpose of this paper is to provide a vision of ultrasonic guided wave inspection potential aswe move forward into the new millennium. An increased understanding of the basic physics and wave mechanics associated with guided wave inspection has led to an increase in practical nondestructive evaluation and inspection problems. Some fundamental concepts and a number of different applications that are currently being considered will be presented in the paper along with a brief description of the sensor and software technology that will make ultrasonic guided wave inspection commonplace in the next century.

P1H-9 Nonlinear Ultrasonic Lamb Wave Response to Fatigue of Solid Plates

M. Deng, +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, an approach of nonlinear ultrasonic Lamb waves is proposed to experimentally assess the fatigue damage of solid plates, and the experimental results show that the effect of second-harmonic generation by Lamb wave propagation is rather sensitive to the state of early fatigue damage.

Guided wave based inspection of integrated circuit packages using the time-frequency synchrosqueezing transform

TL;DR: Initial results demonstrate that the dispersive mode information from the extracted SST ridges provide an effective damage indicator for IC packaging.

Propagation of elastic waves in a fluid-loaded anisotropic functionally graded waveguide : Application to ultrasound characterization.

TL;DR: In this article, a three-layered waveguide with a laterally heterogeneous anisotropic solid layer sandwiched between two acoustic fluids is proposed to solve the wave equation in such a structure without using a multilayered model for the plate.

Low Frequency Generation and Detection of the Lamb Wave A0 Mode Using EMAT

TL;DR: In this article, a Lorentz force type EMAT is designed to generate and detect the single Lamb wave A0 mode in the low frequency range of 0∼300kHz in 1∼2mm thin steel plate.

Ultrasonic Waves in Solid Media

TL;DR: In this article, the theory of elasticity was introduced and basic formulas and concepts in complex variables in the theory and application of wave propagation were discussed. But the authors did not consider the effects of wave scattering on the wave propagation experiments.
