A Baseline and Vision of Ultrasonic Guided Wave Inspection Potential

TLDR
In this article, the authors provide a vision of ultrasonic guided wave inspection potential as we move forward into the new millennium and provide a brief description of the sensor and software technology that will make ultrasonic guidance wave inspection commonplace in the next century.
Abstract
Ultrasonic guided wave inspection is expanding rapidly to many different areas of manufacturing and in-service inspection. The purpose of this paper is to provide a vision of ultrasonic guided wave inspection potential aswe move forward into the new millennium. An increased understanding of the basic physics and wave mechanics associated with guided wave inspection has led to an increase in practical nondestructive evaluation and inspection problems. Some fundamental concepts and a number of different applications that are currently being considered will be presented in the paper along with a brief description of the sensor and software technology that will make ultrasonic guided wave inspection commonplace in the next century.

Ultrasonic Vibration Sensing of Intrinsic Fabry-Perot Interferometer Sensor Array Based on Local Spectral Analysis

TL;DR: In this article , a low-cost integrated intrinsic Fabry-Perot interferometer (IFPI) sensor array demodulation algorithm based on local spectral analysis is presented, which exploits multiple local spectra instead of the entire spectrum to achieve ultrasonic vibration measurement well beyond the sweeping period of the tunable laser source.

A novel physics-informed framework for reconstruction of structural defects

TL;DR: In this article , a deep learning neural network model is used to reveal the physical relationship between the defects and the noisy detection signals, which is then adopted to assess and characterize the defect profiles in structures, improve the accuracy of the analytical model and eliminate the impact of the noise pollution in the process of inspection.

Low-Frequency ultrasonic tomography of Corrosion-induced damage patterns on naturally corroded solid reinforcing bar rock bolts

TL;DR: In this article , a combined non-destructive guided ultrasonic wave measuring approach and low-frequency ultrasonic tomography technique on cylindrical surfaces is developed to investigate corrosion-induced damage patterns in naturally corroded 60-year-old solid rebars.

Ultrasonic Waves in Solid Media

TL;DR: In this article, the theory of elasticity was introduced and basic formulas and concepts in complex variables in the theory and application of wave propagation were discussed. But the authors did not consider the effects of wave scattering on the wave propagation experiments.
